Book of the Dragonborn

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:08 am

For those who want to find this out whilst playing the game. It made me really disappointed when I find out.

Spoiler
Alduin and Akatosh ARE NOT the same. It says so in ingame books and Alduin refers to himself as "firstborn of Akatosh". Mightiest of the dragons(which are Akatosh's children. But not equal to/the same being as Akatosh.

Spoiler
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/shor-son-shor-full, maybe?

Most of the books on the subject are biased... and the Nords used to worship Nine animal gods.

The Light of Man as an Akaviri invention?

Is this something related to one of the older games? In the text itself I see no mention but I would really like to know.

Confirmation of the Tsaesci as a long-lost tribe of men (at least in the religious sense)?

Where was that hinted in the text?

Reman's name translates to Light of Man. The Tsaesci were vital in his rise to power and to his empire in general. Given how influential they were, could it be argued that the man hailed as return of mannish glory, really just be set up by the Akaviri for their own purposes?

Their emphasis on the Dragonborn, something not found in elven cultures as far as I can tell.

Seriously, the lack of nordic gods is really irking me. Hell, the only time I heard "Ysmir" was a [censored] bandit attacking me.

I hope to Chaos that the Stormcloaks are more pro-nordic gods. Otherwise, I'm going to burn and destroy every single temple.

They seem to have merged the two pantheons together. Most Nords still seem to like Shor, at least.

They Greybeards have mentioned Shor, Kyne, and Ysmir numerous times. The old ways survive...

I guess Skyrim has been getting the same religious treatment as Morrowind in the mean time, though.

I'd say they're much like Hammerfell at the time of Tiber Septim.

http://imperial-library.info/content/skyrim-book-dragonborn Since we don't have a CS to export the book files, I typed it by hand from screenshots.

The Light of Man as an Akaviri invention?

What does this mean? What is the Light of Man?

Existence and importance of towers and the Wheel reaffirmed!

What do you mean by "Wheel reaffirmed"?

Chimere-Marog letters right about Daedra supplanting the Eight!

That book in Divayth Fyr's study? Wasn't that just about Battlespire? What does that have to do with Daedra supplanting the Divines, and how do you see Ker's Researches referenced/corroborated in The Book of the Dragonborn?

The first god the horse thief mentioned was Shor. "Shor's bones" also seems to be a rather common phrase.

Shor's Stone is a village in The Rift. Also...

Spoiler
When you complete the trials for the Greybeards, their naming ceremony uses the phrases "in the name of Kyne" and "in the name of Shor". Not only that, they explicitly call you "Ysmir, Dragon of the North."
