Love love loved these books. Never read the last two, but I did bump into the author Chris once and he signed my copy and sent me some postcards. I'd definitely recommend at least the first one, the third was a little dark.

The Hatchet series... I've only read the first two... but I've read them both about 5 times each.

Also, My Side of the Mountain... Short but well written.
