Fallout isn't my cup of tea, so it's new to me. As surely it also is for tons of people.

I don't even know what "choose your own adventure" means. But cool, I guess?

I'm showing my age then, blimey.

I like Deadmau5 though, does that make me cool?

Also we at least have some altering choices in game. :P

You had to be a 90s kid. I don't know if children today are familiar with it either. Concept's simple though: You had books like Goosebumps where you got to make simple decisions ie. if you decide to enter the creepy mansion turn to page 9; if you want to follow the river go to page 40. Everyone seems to have the wrong idea though, you can't actually flip book pages in Skyrim!

And because of that it shouldn't be done again?

That was more of a Zork homage, versus a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book homage. Quite different, really.

You make an innocent little observation. :cookie: for everyone.

We all can have an adventure during our adventure. Perhaps the CYOA book has a CYOA book in the story as well.

if you have an iphone.. you can download a few Fighting Fantasy Gamebook apps, they work quite well with built in dice roll feature, handy as i dont normally walk around with dice in my pockets ;)

It's basically a regular book, except at certain points it gives you choices, eg, "if you want to do this, go to page X, if you want to do that, go to page Y, if you want to do this other, go to page Z", then you flip to the appropriate page based on what you want and continue reading from there, until you get another choice, and follow to the appropriate page, etc, until the end. Some books would even have multiple endings depending on the path you took.

Well they're not truly. You CAN'T actually choose your own adventure. Still wicked though.

I am sorry, how do you know that? I only ask because I do not think any of us truly know the answer until we play for ourselves or is confirmed elsewhere.
I am only saying that anything is possible even if improbable.

when I found that terminal in fo3,I gotta say I was amused.I never got to play those types of games/rpg because I was too young but I loved that they included something like that and rewarded players for exploring.

it is true,a lot of people I've talked to while playing fo3 missed out on a ton of content never truly exploring by rushing the MQ,which was in all honesty a very small part of the overall game. :( It is a shame that some people just do not have the patience, imagination or will to explore these kinds of games that Bethesda creates, they are meant to be experienced like this imo.
