While traveling through a dark area Boone said to me "It's dark in here. I can spot you if you want to use your scope."

How is this done in game? I see no dialog to ask him to spot me.

hes just referring to the perk he gives you that when you Aim (left trigger on XBOX) your enemies are highlighted in red, making them much easier to see
