Boooring!

Post » Thu Feb 12, 2009 1:02 am

Is it just me or has this place turned into the most boring forum on the planet? The same topics are discussed over and over until death you do NOT part. I mean seriously, do people not know how to use something as rudamentary as a search function?

Lets all sing together on some my favourite golden oldies...

The wishlist!
With 4 months to release I guarantee you that the game is cast in stone. No amount of begging for anything will hep you. I do seem to remember that Crytek failed this community on Patch wishlists 7 times in a row. Guess what you'll get on a new game release...

Can it run on my pc...
It's runs on Consoles. So, you only need the equivalent of a Sharp pocket calculator to run the game buddy. Stop stressing about it!

Console VS PC?
Consoles are at the end of the day cheap gaming boxes with fiddly controllers. I dont care if you can plug a Keyboard & Mouse into it and surf Redtube all day. You get what you pay for, simple as that...

Dedicated Servers
This one always comes up before new title releases. You have 1 guess at when people get clarity on it? Yup, thats right, when the company releases the info. Until then there is nothing you can do about it!

We got screwed!
This one usually comes out of the PC camp. Consoles ports. 6v6 multi player. No vehicles. Decreased / screwed suit modes. etc bla bla. No buddy, you have not been screwed, yet. You still need to buy the game before that happens. If you do buy it, make sure to pick up some KY jelly as well ;)

Scrolling through the forum I think the points above sufficiently cover 95% of the threads. Can you find more?

I think you've summarised the majority of the content of this whole forum in that one post :P

Very good post. I agree that some topics are way over-discussed. THIS should be stickied.

Also, I have found that patches rarely include new game mechanics or large improvements. For instance, once they release the game, it is almost certain that they will never add another suit mode, or things like tactical destruction or other such things.

Especially with EA, I have noticed that game publishers and developers almost NEVER actually listen to the community and fix things that people say are broken, or add new things that people say should be there.

I haven't checked these forums in a while and I guess I'm not missing anything. Be back in another few months.

This definitely needs to be stickied, seeing as it answers all the questions anyone asks these days. Maybe we can get some decent topics started then.

Thanks for the feedback, even though it's in the wrong section.

Whilst you've excelled at ridicule and sixual innuendo comedic relief, you've not really given any positive input as to how to improve the situation. Any thoughts?

I have gone to lengths as to sticky a thread titled "Duplicate Threads" which inside i request users search and also mention that duplicate threads asking the same questions will be deleted, to which a member of this thread ridiculed my actions in that i should merge duplicate threads, not delete them, which would result in the assistance of 'Boooring, repetitive conversation'...

There's pockets of interesting discussion created as new information is released but as we're still 4 months away from release, these pockets aren't constant just yet. I'm sure as we get closer to release date and as more info starts pouring in that there will be more interesting stuff to talk about :)

I agree Shin, this guy comes along just to complain about stuff he honestly doesn't care about... but instead of suggestions for improvement, all he can do is throw insults around.

I agree with him. The only way to improve anything is if the developers actually treated the fans with respect. Don't see that happening any time soon.

I believe with 'wrong section' you mean it should have been under Feedback? Not so. My post targets specific content in this section, not site feeback.

Let's face it, sometimes "ridicule and sixual innuendo comedic relief" are the only things people actually respond to. Every forum out there has a duplicate thread rule / sticky and they always get ignored like a stop sign. Your thread has been up since October and has only had 250 views. Mines been up for just over 12 hours and already have half view count yours did.

So, the postive input you are looking for actually lies in the negativity / sarcastic nature of the post. If enough people read this they will understand that there are people that getting irritated with constant rehashing / in fighting of and over old subjects.

Oh, and lastly. General forum practise is actually to merge similair threads, not delete them. You only delete where the content is suitable for the forum.

Rage, I take it you are new to the world of Crysis. I actually do care about the game and it's community and have gone to great lengths to ensure the survival thereof. However, that does not mean I have to be nice about it. Nice is so last year ;)

Every forum out there has a duplicate thread rule / sticky and they always get ignored like a stop sign. Yeah, stickies do have quite an amazing ability to be disregarded even though that's the complete opposite point of them :P

Oh, and lastly. General forum practise is actually to merge similair threads, not delete them. You only delete where the content is suitable for the forum. Thanks but we feel as though the best way to keep the forums a viable and fresh resource is to remove any unnecessary content. Where applicable, we do merge threads which is usually the case unless there is some other reason that's preventing this from going ahead. One example would be a duplicate thread that also doubles as flame bait. There would be little point in merging this thread with an existing one.

Me? New to the world of Crysis?

Wow, that's a really good one; considering I am the author of one of the most well-known mods released for Crysis to date, with over 60,000 downloads throughout all versions, and threads with over 500,000 views, and I've also done more work than that, including freelance game development.

I've been modding Crysis since the demo was released in 2007.

One thing I have learned is this: the developer will dismiss any overly insulting 'suggestions' as just internet garbage. Your post has no substance. It has no suggestions for improvement.

It's just you whining like a child.

So, what are these 'great lengths' you have gone through considering I have never even heard of you?

Not much really, he's just the guy who wrote the only effective anticheat for Crysis and Wars (plus the maxplayer unlocker). Pick a server, join it, and you'll almost certainly see "Running PHOENIX 1.2.0.0" or something similar in the console. Without him, there wouldn't even be the pathetically small number of servers there currently are.

Edit: I like the arrogant attitude, plus the "child" comment, and then turning this thread into an e-pencs comparison. Great combination.

They must have gotten around it, because hackers still flood Crysis and Crysis Wars.

Well, I guess maybe not all servers adopted your anti-cheat.

I apologize first off, looks like you have made a good contribution to the community.

Here is the mod:

http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=23117

The latest version has 25,000 downloads, but it has 60,000 downloads, maybe more across all versions of the CCC.

Nah, it just suffers the same flaw as any other server side only mods. You can you check so much. That said, it still holds his own against LP, which it was designed for.

60K downloads is brilliant. Well done :)

UltimaRage, being the creator of some kind of Time of Day pack does not make you a Crysis expert.

Crysis 2 is like a completely new game, and I understand why Crytek made that decision. Crysis / Crysis Wars completely flopped. Making a true sequel to that would just end in heartbreak :P

Never said it did? Regardless, I have been following and playing Crysis ever since the demo came out, and I've had tons of people thank me personally for making 'some Time of Day pack.' Hell, even some guys from Ubisoft know about me and have contacted me personally.

I'm not exactly 'un-knowledgeable' on the subject of Crysis, having modded it for the past three years.

Ever seen the TV program "One Man & his Dog?" i entered my dog for that... worse than child molestation they said, horrible business... so...dedicated servers eh? eh? tsk... i bet you there's going to be an announcement on this soon, maybe this week, i bet (rummage) £1.76 and my left nut there will be... if i lose the bet, i can send it packed in ice to any address within 48 hours...

Please crytek, don't have me de-balled...

I think we should spice up the place a bit... I'm going to make a fabulous post in the general section about being touched on a bus last week by a gaymun... (or gay man as they are known) honest mistake, i thought he was a pick pocket, after he regained consciousness, i apologized and we moved on...

So yeah, i only came back here for a quick snoop, the heat is off till after xmas i fear... here's to orchiectomy :)
