BOOTED from server due to innactivity

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 12:20 pm

when i was in beta, i was reading books or simply reading through the skills list on my character sheet and i was BOOTED from server due to inactivity!

also when we are in stealth waiting for an enemy i was not moving and waiting for a passer by and i was booted!

this is very annoying and game breaking!

please fix this problem zenimax.

Eventually, I think it was just because it was a stress test and there were login queues, so no need to worry. :tops:

Well move the camera once every 2 seconds then?

Also I believe they may have been unforgiving on the boot out timer due to being a stress beta and preferring active people testing it.

I agree with the OP, i was browsing through the skills i could unlock for around 20 minutes and got booted due to inactivity as well. I think the only way to stop that is to manually move ur character or use abilities. UI interactions dont count.

I thought the idea of a beta test was to test the game, it sound from what you say as if you weren't doing that.

Let me say it in a simple way. I think, it was just a beta feature.

Yeah, I'd agree with you guys if the limiter hadn't been set at around 20 minutes. The books and skill descriptions don't take that long to read.

I know of several MMO's that do this. The common way to avoid this is move your character five feet or so.

it could cause a real problem if i have to "move" and draw attention to myself while im trying to be hidden near a tree and my movement will make people look at me. i just sayin

Hehe - I was booted twice due to inactivity while in a loading screen ;)
And got up to make some coffee and for a /bio break, fully expecting to be logged out and returned to my char twiddeling his thumbs in the wilderness still online :)
So seems like testing the facilities to me.

If you're at the same tree for 20 minutes, I think you're probably not helping your alliance very much.

I very much disagree. The AvA in this game is similar to DAoC's RvR. If you'd played DAoC, you'd realize that a scout at keeps is invaluable, and sometimes they don't move much in an hour, let alone 20 minutes.

If camera movement or chatting is sufficient to reset the inactivity timer though, I don't see a problem.

20 minutes is a really long time. Heck, most MMO's give you a warning at 10 minutes, and boot you at 15.

I was chatting for some time and got booted for inactivity, even though I was messing around with my equipment and inventory. Seemed weird, but I hope/ am expecting it will be different for launch.

how many times.. how many times... do i have to tell you guys.. its a beta.... your going to have lag to see if any lag related issues happen.. your going to become booted.. you log it .. time stamp it in beta forms/what ever... stop trying to troll fest the game.. do they need to come out with a 101 beta player video for you guys.. is it getting this hard to understand..

People are voicing valid concerns about their experiences and giving feedback in an attempt to make sure the launch is smoother. The one trolling here is you and its not the first post where i have seen u make silly 101 comments.
