Borderlands worth it?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:41 am

So, I was thinking of buying Borderlands on the PS3 store, but I have one question. Is it worth the buy? I've seen many gameplay videos and it looks like the perfect RPG, but is it really what it seems?

From what I played, I enjoyed it. Its mainly a linear game with some side quests. And I usually don't like FPS's at all, so saying that I enjoyed it must mean something.

Loads of fun if you're into crazy loot, and especially if you have other people to play it with.

Great response, and I'm a huge fan of FPS's so I'll probably enjoy it more than you did.

I heard the best feature is the multiplayer, yeah.

Borderlands is fun if you have people to play it with. I think playing solo is kind of boring. Gets very repetitive after a while if you don't have some friends with you.

My only complain is that you can't drive everywhere.

Fun for a while, but it gets really repetitive and boring later on.

I love the game. I'm currently playing all the expansions.

Anybody know how to kill crawmorax?

Either have a team full of sirens, have extremely skilled team mates, or use the glitch spot and shoot the unholy hell out of him.

Also, check the wiki. Loads of info regarding tactics on how to kill that giant grab bastard. Never did drop any pearl items for me. I just wanted the undertaker damnit!

Yea, I was doing it with my buddy who is a siren and I'm a hunter. I couldn't even move without being downed immediately. Were both at level 61 right now and it's not happening.

i loved the game. unfortunately, unless you play with friends your probably going to be disappointed in the multiplayer. when i tried it out there were people running around with uber modded weapons one shotting everything. not fun. the singleplayer itself is good enough to keep you occupied for a long long time with all the DLCs that have come out. if you want to save a couple of bucks you can skip the mad moxxi DLC since its pretty much worthless but the zombie one was a blast to play and had lots of easter eggs in it. not only is the game fun to play but every so often i was laughing cause of the great sense of humor the game has. its a parody of shooters and pop culture. you wont be disappointed.

Its a good game that will disappoint you because it shouldve been a great game. That I think sums up my feeling about it perfectly.

It's an FPS / RPG

It has guns but it also has loot, leveling, skill points, character builds and all that traditional RPG stuff.

It's fun going through it twice, but after that it loses it's novelty.

This.

I even bought all of the expansions. I got so bored with the game that I didn't even complete 2 of the expansions... and I didn't even play the last one.

After about 20 hours I was burnt out. Non-existent story, repetitive quests/gameplay and a whole lot of loot with minimal stat differences. Co-op is said to help, but it's still the same game, just with conversation to help distract you from killing your millionth Skag. Luckily you catch a break every now and then and get to kill a Skag of a slightly different size or color. :P

It's also difficult to use a controller if you're on a PC due to a bug.

if you use any controller that isn't a Xbox360 controller, the left stick will have its y axis reversed, meaning that you'll walk backwards if you press the stick forward. <_<
