Ok, I'm bored ...

... with my character. So I made a new one.

My previous (and first one) was a Dark Elf (level 37) that was an expert sneak-archer (90+) with destruction as back-up. I didn't do too many quests yet and got a bit bored of the play style, I want more action. Now not sure what would be fun and still challenging to do.

I'm leaning towards a warrior/assassin (one hand, two hand, sneak) with illusion (calm, muffle, invisibility) and restoration. Don't know yet if I'll go heavy or light armour, prolly the one that looks best. Don't care too much about stats. Would this combination still be challenging or would it become easy too fast? Ofcourse I'm disregarding enchanting and alchemy and will only use potions I find or food that I hunt.

I chose a Nord and my difficulty is set on 'Expert' at the moment.

What is the playstyle you found most enjoyable so far?

Low armour rating, high dmg.

Makes the fights a lot more visceral.

Nothing is more fun then warrior. Getting into fights full of armor, a good sword and a shield, never gets old.

How do you keep it low? Since your stats automatically improve once you get hit. Or is it just by wearing crappy armours (and light armour)? I'm leaning towards light armour anyway since they look the coolest.

My main issue is the dilemma if adding Illusion and Restoration in to the build is going to make it too easy. But I guess I could fix that with setting the difficulty to master.

Edit: don't no squad about the melee area of the game yet. My Dark Elf had a 37 armour rating as he barely got hit and was wearing robes all the time.

Yes, lighter and lesser armour, such as leather. Can be tweaked at the forge to your desires.

Illusion CAN make it OP, especially at lower levels. I'd use it sparingly myself.

The game has a strange way of 'balancing' opponents you meet so they are 'as good' as you, on master difficulty. Take bleak falls barrow as an example. You kill the basic bandits, no problem. Then a bandit thug (that normally dies when he tries to solve a puzzle) three-hit-kills you through your shield. You are too slow to get away, you can't heal fast enough, you need to hit him at least 50 times to kill him and you are dead before you know it. Not even 100 healing potions would help. What I'm saying is not that master difficulty is too hard, but rather that it actually only buffs up a few enemies and makes those nearly impossible, while other fights (against the same type of enemy!) are incredibly boring two-three hit fights. Playing on an easier difficulty is too easy, gets boring, playing on harder is impossible when a boss comes around. I've started Skyrim over and over again and just find it boring right now.. Nothing fun to do, no fun character to create, no challenge most of the time and way too hard at way too many occations, in comparison to the rest of the enemies.

The only way to 'fix' this issue would be to make a no-armor, full melee char on novice difficulty.

At least it's more interesting as an archer. Don't get me wrong, using a bow and shooting people in the eye was very fun ... but at the end it just was shoot-shoot-shoot = enemy dead. Especially with the perks you get from 80+. Each type will have its disadvantages that way, a shame you can't deselect perks once you've chosen them.

@Weight: Thanks. I'll try it with a light armour setup, one handed/two handed and sneak for a while and see how that turns out. If it gets too hard later on, I can always add illusion in the build too.
