One I have done a few times, is, Scope out a Bandit cave without alerting them to your presence, then reporting to a Count/Countess, to see if you should take some of the guardsmen(With mods only, sadly) and clean up the threat, or if there is no immediate danger. Good test of Sneak skills, and it makes sense, what better time for Bandits/Marauders to strike then when the general population is worried about the Daedric invasion? So those brave men and women who can see what Bandit formation could strike next, and save the city from becoming a Bandit city can be heroes too.

And of course, the indepth murderer, who stalks their prey making note of their activities, and then pounces when it fits them, In broad daylight, or in their homes, with a hood of pain, a poisoned apple, or the trusty dagger.

There are tons of options, that I'm sure fellow forum goers will post here soon. Imagination is the limit.

Role-play a false prophet.

Gather as many followers as possible, then go to a city, check on some guards talking to someone from another faction (like that Dark Brotherhood chick that tells you about being discreet), have 100% chameleon on you and then either sneak attack the chick and / or cast frenzy on someone, so as to start a horror-show, chaotic mess of an epic MUFAMBA amongst everybody.

Quietly leave, go to another town, gather as many followers.....

I just answered a very similar question in another post. Let me copy in the response I made there. I hope it is of some help to get you thinking of things. :)

Self-made quest examples:

1. Your old friend Baurus has asked your help to confirm the rumors of Mythic Dawn sleeper agents. You're pretty sneaky and clever, so you say sure. He gives you the sketchy documents on what the Blades know and asks you to try and identify the sleepers, find more of them and, um eliminate them if you are sure they are indeed working for the Mythic Dawn.

2. During your visits to Anvil, Countess Millona Umbranox has quite impressed you with her kindness. You feel badly for her lonliness and become determined to solve the mystery of her missing husband, Count Corvus Umbranox. You have always been kind to the beggers. . . perhaps they may know where to start.

3. During your Chorrol Mages Guild recommendation, the rogue mage, Earana quite pissed you off with her threats. During subsequent visits, it has become clear that it is only the city guard that stands between her and fireball in your back. Tired of fearing for your life each time you visit the city of the Great Oak, you decide to eliminate Earana - permanently. In fact, you are quite taken with the idea of her soul, sitting inside a black gem on your desk as a paperweight. . . .

4. During a visit to Pell's Gate, you learn of the plight of Lenwin, a wood elf who found an evil blade called Umbra that corrupted her spirit. You become convinced that if you somehow remove this evil blade from Lenwin without harming her, her life and spirit can be saved. You set about detailed planning that includes damaging the evil blade to the point where Lenwiin will put it in her pack, enabling you to pickpocket it. You believe that the sword can then best be fully destroyed by the lava flows found in the plains of Oblivion.

Are you on XBox or PC? If you're on PC, try out some quest mods. One I really really really love is Dungeons of Ivellon, which adds this cryptic (and Lore-friendly) quest situated in the scariest dungeon I've ever seen in pretty much any game. Gates to Aesgaard 1&2 are great too.

Or self-made quests are fun too, if you're on XBox. Set difficult goals and don't make your quests too easy. What I did once was to tell my brother to look up a random non-important NPC in the UESPWiki and give me a few hints as to where to find him/her and a description of what they look like. Count Anvil then gave me a quest to find said person and kill them and bring some token of theirs back to Anvil to prove that the dangerous criminal had been disposed of. B)

That was fun, took me forever though. :glare:

Unfortunately, I have no mods so I just have to wing it. I too got bored so I decided to make two characters of which I do not normally play. I did not care for the thieves guild in Oblivion and I tend to play the "good guy" since it's usually got better rewards. I created Sonia. She's an argonian who can not remember anything before the incident in the prison in which she became the possixr of The Amulet of Kings. She is very angst-y and does not trust anyone. She is learning her hand at alchemy in addition to general adventuring to get by in this world on her own with no help. She tends to avoid quests at all costs. She was drawn into the DB when Lucias came to her...she was very smitten with him. However, when she went to the abandoned house in Cheydinhal she realized that even snuffing out the life of people has forced her to get close to other (she is also terrified of going back into the prison and is stuck at that particular assignment). Needless to say, everyone dislikes Sonia because she steals and kills. My second character I am currently playing is Lena a quirky and extremely friendly wood elf who, despite the snickering behind her back, is working very hard at being the best she can be at heavy armor and blunt weaponry. She talks to everyone she can and goes out of her way to tell jokes to anyone who listens. This does not always have the desired affect, but Lena is resilient and just keeps plugging along. Lena's secret ambition is to have everyone in Cyrodill like her as much as possible.
I know they may not be glamorous, but it gives the game new life to simply play a character and their daily routines rather than playing the game. You are now responsible for thinking is this what Lena or Sonia would do rather than this is what I should do or I need to get this quest for this purpose. Hope this helps.
