Bos in 2162

I found this quote

Some time after the defeat of the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Master in http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline#2162, the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Brotherhood_of_Steel constructed airships and dispatched some of its soldiers East, to track down and assess the extent of the remaining http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Super_mutantthreat"

These Airships, now they are never mentioned in Fallout 3, or seen. I want to know why. being DC is the Capital Wasteland and BoS have a very large grasp of control surly Ariships would be a key aspect to spot groups of Super Mutants (frankies) from the sky.

The BoS DC chapter are there tracking and killing Super mutants up until the water purification begins so why do they not use these airships.

They would help so much i feel. With recon, aerial attacks. Imagine a BoS squad of 8 each with a FATMAN aiming at say evergreen mills from 200 yards up. Goodbye raiders!!!!!

Only excuse i have found is that they use vertibirds but why scrap the Airships??

Only BoS ever to use airships were the Midwestern BoS, who piloted them near Chicago where a storm crashed the whole air fleet. So I suppose they were experimental? While vertibirds have been proven as reliable transports, so most(if not all) BoS prefer to use them.

Wow. It's pretty basic knowledge about Fallout 3 that Lyon's and his men went to D.C. in 2255.

I know this but surely they would have used airships as fuel woul dbe a large factor with vertibirds ( im not sure how they are powered i would imagine like cars ) Lyon's may have settled in Dc in 2255, but that may not have been the earliest BoS journey to DC.

Fair enough, they went to Chicago (as you already know); one of Lyon's objectives was to make contact with the MWBoS but I think we can assume nothing came of it.

Just a shame some trader couldn't have reused the airship tech. Would have been brilliant.
