Thanks for the reports. Could you all do as andalaybay has done and run "BOSS -v2" from a command line prompt, and post the output here? I suspect the issue has something to do with the changes I made relating to user rules for 1.62, so if you've got rules, could you also post your userlist?

EDIT: Oh, and andalaybay's post also shows that QuietFeet.esp is in the masterlist twice, once early with other such mods, and once late. Which should get removed?

Reference Quiet Feet esp - I dont think an esp is required anymore, I made a bain out of Quiet Feet MAX 2.0 which just includes 154 loose sound files to invalidate gamesas bsa equivalents....

The original Quiet Feet was superceeded with Quiet Feet Complete, both of which are replaced by MAX 2.0 which does the same job sans esp.

Thanks for the reports. Could you all do as andalaybay has done and run "BOSS -v2" from a command line prompt, and post the output here? I suspect the issue has something to do with the changes I made relating to user rules for 1.62, so if you've got rules, could you also post your userlist?

Wrinkly, I asked you guys to move QuietFeet and PM did so a while ago - guess there would up being two entries. Also, I suspected the problems I (and it sounds like others too) was having had to do with the new user rules because I didn't have this under 1.6.1. I think you've concluded that too.

OK, the only thing in common that I could see between your two situations was that you both had a mod that was sorted twice (because it was in the masterlist twice). I've now corrected that, if you could update your masterlists and see if you're still getting the problems, that'd be great.

Obviously, while the duplicates may be the cause, it's still a bug in the code that's causing the duplicates from messing up the rest of your load order, and I'll see about fixing that.

The screwed up ordering might also be the reason why you've got plugins being magically recognised even though they're not in the masterlist. Plugins aren't marked as recognised, but those that are get sorted first, so we just store the position of the last sorted mod, and after that are the unknown mods, so if that's screwed up by duplicates, you might get such a thing happening.

I was just going to post that for me, the problem just disappeared! I haven't updated my masterlist yet (it's still revision 1813, which is what I think it was before). The difference was that I saw alt's post and switched to Quiet Feet MAX. So I guess this confirms your suspicions (because that would remove the duplicate for me). The other difference is that I actually built my bashed patch (previously it was there, but 0 bytes) and I installed another mod (Battlehorn Castle DLC), but it would appear those things don't matter.

Looks like you're on the right track :)

OK, I think I fixed that bug. :) Now duplicate entries in the masterlist will only be sorted for the first time they are found (fix made to code in my branch, not trunk yet). Looks like we'll be needing a 1.63, but not just yet (since the problem is more to do with the masterlist than the program, and also to wait for more bug reports).

If you (well I guess "I" - I can't verify if anybody else has this problem) play the game with it where BOSS loads it, it breaks the quest timers. New quests never advance for me, because they are set on 1 week timers.
2.) Why do you load "Kvatch Rebuilt Weather Patch.esp" after Kvatch Rebuilt, when in the All Natural readme, it states to load it after All Natural.esp?

I've had no problem with where BOSS sorts Kvatch Rebuilt - just finished another game with it. Also, it does load the weather patch after All Natural - there's nothing saying that it has to be right after All Natural. I imagine it has to follow KR as well.

1. Because they can load there, to the best of our knowledge. They're fairly spread out, depending on their specific requirements, but AFAIK for the most part they work in the middle of your load order, after overhauls but before various overriding mods and more major world changers (UL, BC, etc.).

2. The AN readme is wrong, it's something that was missed when it was last updated, the patch must load after the Kvatch Rebuilt.esp because it changes some region info, which it didn't before.

**EDIT** Found an interesting situation. I had a user rule that kept Streamline at the bottom of the list, using the rules below
ADD: MyCustomPatch01.esp
AFTER: Bashed Patch, 0.esp

Then,...
OVERRIDE: Streamline 3.1.esp
AFTER: MyCustomPatch01.esp

This would produce the bug dump above with the warning that MyCustomPatch01.esp was already in the masterlist.

However if I remove the Streamline override and only use the ADD rule for MyCustomPatch01.esp everything works fine, with either revision of the masterlist 1815 or 1816.
Below is 1816 without the Streamline Override.

Sorry for the edits but I just figured what circumstances this happened under. Still not sure why it happens when I override the order for Streamline.

**EDIT 2** Just found out it depends on how I sort my userlist. If I put the override for Streamline after MyCustomPatch01 then I don't get the error. However if I put it before MyCustomPatch01 I get the error that it's in the masterlist already.

So if I order my Userlist like this...

So this is about the placement of your custom plugin using user rules? Everything works fine if you don't use any user rules, correct?

In that case, yes, you're not supposed to sort mods after mods that haven't been positioned (by masterlist or rules) yet. Doing so will do things like this, because:

Position x marks the position of the first unknown mod. In this case x = position of your custom plugin after masterlist sorting, but before userlist sorting.
If you then OVERRIDE a mod that's been sorted, this removes the mod, shifting all the mods above it down one position, and adding it at the new position, where all mods at the new position and above get shifted up one. However, since you're putting the moved mod after the first unknown, this means that the first unknown is moved from x to x-1, and so is no longer an unknown mod. Furthermore, this means that the moved mod is now unknown, since it now occupies position x.

Any attempt to ADD the first unknown will now result in an error, because it lies within the range of known mods.

I suppose this should be made clearer: the user rules readme does tell you not to do it, but the reason given isn't the main one (which is things like this happening).

Thanks for the explanation Wrinklyninja. It makes perfect sense now, and is logical. An oversight on my part, simply rearranging the userlist does the trick. The error was between the keyboard and the chair. :facepalm:

Hey all,

I've been having some crashes recently that I thought might be related to my LO and I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice in this situation. The long version of the problems I've been experiencing can be found http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1137100-needing-some-lo-advice/page__pid__16633211__st__0&#entry16633211 but I thought I'd give a bit shorter account because it is sort of became a mountain of text. ^_^

Basically, I need to find the right positions in my LO for Nekhanimals Awesome Vampire Mod and Return of Shadows Ch.1. I find that when I BOSS my load order through BOMM, Neks doesn't work properly on my vamp character but when I made it quite a bit lower I may have put it too low as now I'm crashing much more often when before I could go about 3 hrs at least without a crash.

The thing with RoS is that I find crashes began to happen a lot when traveling to Bruma w/o fast travel, so much that I had to coc into Bruma the first time. I was thinking it might be a LO issue like its conflicting with something and maybe I need to load it lower but idk.

If you can provide any advice on this subject, please do so when possible.

I'm not familiar with RoS or Nek's so basically the only thing I can say is try reducing your LO/moving them around to find the stablest spot - and if you find a better spot to let us know.

I would like to submit our just-released mod for the next version of BOSS.
The mod is entitled
Weapon Expansion Pack for Oblivion Nthusiasts (note the misspelling of "Enthusiast")
It comes in two versions: one that is SI-dependent, and one that is not. Only one of the versions is supposed to be installed.

The mod adds hundreds of new weapons to the game, and also makes hundreds of statistics corrections. It should definitely load after Oblivion, SI, and the Unofficial Patches for those two; in testing, it's also seemed to do well when loaded after MMM. We haven't done enough testing with OOO, FCOM, or other major patches to know the effect on those at this time.

I haven't played this, but it's a gameplay changes mod. Could be a possible Delev/Relev in Bash? Load position regarding major overhauls (OOO/MMM et al)? From the readme:

What I did.

All this mod does is remove the leveled items from all Bandit's inventories and replace them with items that seem more "resort-to-crime-to-pay-for-stuff-y"

So basically, I went through all the inventories of Bandits in the Construction Set, replace them with Iron, Leather, Etc. However, there is still a small chance you may come across a bandit with some mid-level stuff. Let's just say, "They found some good loot on a past victim". Also some of them will be wearing "disguises". A couple of Bandits are wearing Monk robes, and a highwayman is wearing some Black Burgundy, another "past victim" ;)

There is an optional file added that makes the Bandits, Bandit Bosses (ringleaders) and Highwaymen have a much higher level offset than before. This is to balance out their loss of full elven/mithril/glass and also create somewhat of a challenge for players. This makes bandits have an offset of +10-+12, Highwaymen have an offset of +15-+17, and Bandit Bosses have an offset of +25. Now Bandits aren't just mosquitos biting at your *coughHORSEScough* neck.

-You are mistaken. I did NOT change the level offsets of the Bandits, I only replaced the items, I.E. Bandits will still level with you, only they won't have equipment worth twice as much as yours. Plus I added the new ESP which makes their level balance with the newly added equipment.

Hello BOSS Team, I think found one. However this was with the masterfile dated Oct 29, 2010 which is the current one on TESNexus.

Unknown mod file: High_Imperial_Trio.esp

It is a CM Partner mod, this is the mod link on TESNEXUS:

The .esp does not show any WB tags by default when viewed in WB. Not knowing any better, I added tags Eyes and Hair, like what the CM Partners usually have. The .esp is dependent on DKImperials.esm (this esm is included in the download). That .esm however is already recognized by BOSS. I just mention it, I don't know if it is of any importance. I guess inserting the .esp where you put other CM Partner mods is a good place for this one. This is how I did it in my installation and it works.
