[RELz] BOSS - Better Oblivion Sorting Software

My hats of to you for maintaining the BOSS masterlist, but I can see that it is an immense and tedious task.

Have you guys considered trying to automate the process of submitting masterlist changes?
EG. a tool that people could use to submit their custom user lists to a server db and generate the masterlist based on the most popular/confirmed configurations?
Or would that just be even more work? :)

Probably even more work... We'd have to double check that it's putting them in the right places, and actually put together such a system in the first place. :shrug:

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the new masterlist puts Streamline somewhere in the middle of my list, while it used to be the last one to load...

I am also getting messed up load orders as off this past week when I updated the masterlist then used BOSS. I'm not sure why this is happening... heh.

It stated being an issue about 3 days ago? I'm not quite sure tho. I actually thought it was a problem on my end. But it's troublesome to say the least.

How's that messed up?

These are probably included in BOSS, but there is no way I can know that, as I'm quite new to the Oblivion modding scene. Anyway, here are my findings:

1) http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6855 conflicts with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15251.

Not a big deal, but "Kraggle Claw" is pretty much right on top of the Witch's house from "Servant of the Dawn" This causes the Death Cult members to attack the "Angry townspeople." this isn't a huge deal since the townspeople are going to end up dead in SotD anyway, but it was a bit disorienting.


2) The same mod (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6855) conflicts also with Knights of the Nine Expansion.

Just a little notification for everybody:
There's a teeny tiny compatibility issue between Servant of the Dawn and Knights of the Nine, where the Priory of the KotN is a little too close to Oldanwor for comfort. Kind of ironic that the base for the holiest of warriors is right next to a giant fortress filled with Dagon worshippers...

How's that messed up?


Hmm, my apologies. I don't think that this is what I was getting before... That *is* different from the one that I was getting my problem from. I deleted the (I'm now guessing corrupted) old masterlist, and ran it again to generate that BOSS list, to show a (now nonexistent) problem. I used to be getting things like Fracesco's.esm loading last in esms and the bashed patch running about halfway though the esps, Enhanced Economy.esp running after it's various semi-patches, and the knights.esp running after Fcom knights. So I don't know exactly what happened there. Now the only difference is Streamline, formID finder, and the two map-markers being different from the BOSS load order. (Which is my choice) It may have had something to do with me trying to figure out BALO, and then disabling it, and deleting all the group.esps.

It enhances soulgem functionality, by making the soulgem's price follow the captured soul level, and by allowing multiple souls to be captured in one soulgem. To do this, it adds a script on the 5 empty standard soulgems, so it should be tagged with "Scripts". It is an extended replacement of my "Enhanced Economy - Soulgems.esp", so the latter should probably be marked as obsolete, replace with Soulgem Magic.

As for load order, I am not the expert, but I think it needs to load after any other mod that touches the 5 empty soulgems, unless using a Bashed Patch. With a Bashed Patch it can probably load higher up due to its Scripts tag. Though I did one test where it loaded after OOO, and it worked fine, with OOO's price and texture changes carried over to the Bashed Patch together with SM's script. So I guess a late load order is the safest, also because if a player has this and a mod that changes other aspects of soulgems, he probably want the scripts to work for the empty soulgems, and can live with "wrong" textures on the 5 empty (while getting it right on the rest).

Load order suggestion:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16877 needs to load after xulPantherRiver.esp, if not you end up with a land tear through the middle of the Fort area. Changing load order eliminates the issue.

I've released HeartOfTheDeadv6.5 Delayer.esp (thanks to Arthmoor for letting me know the HOD script changed).

It replaces the HeartOfTheDeadv6.3 Delayer.esp.
I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like the HOD changes may be usable with HOD 6.3 and 6.4, which in turn would make my delayer backward compatible as well.

Yes. The 6.5 delayer will be backward compatible with the older one. The scale checks used for OC are checking scale on a vanilla item.

It can go anywhere in the load list actually, although you might as well put it after BrotherhoodRenewed.esp to keep them together. Now I just need to get PM to get those new import tags done...

To use Improved Soulgems and Soulgem Magic together, you must either load SM last, and lose the IS colors on empty soulgems (only), or have a Bashed Patch to get both working well together.

I ran the 'BOSS - Update Masterlist.bat', then after that I ran the 'BOSS.exe', and then two issues arose that I need help resolving.

1. Internet Explorer restricts the BOSS Log from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access my computer.

2. I receive a critical error message that: BOSS\masterlist.txt cannot be read.

Doesn't the Update Masterlist automatically run BOSS after updating? That has been my experience so I haven't been running the exe.

I have no idea. If it does, under what circumstances would it be necessary to even run the 'BOSS.exe'? Even still, after running the 'BOSS-Update Masterlist.bat', the 'masterlist.txt' is not generated in the Data\BOSS folder. Is that normal?

Also, do you have to run the 'BOSS.exe' or 'BOSS-Update Masterlist.bat' everytime you add a new esp or esm to the Data folder?

You need to run "BOSS-Update Masterlist.bat" when you want/need to update the master list. You only need to use BOSS.exe if you need to sort your mods because you added a new one.

the BOSS log actually has no scripts or ActiveX controls. It is just straight HTML. What is the file path that Internet Explorer thinks it is trying to open?

As for masterlist.txt not appearing in the Oblivion/Data/BOSS folder, does it appear anywhere else on the hard drive? If you do a system-wide search for the folder, does it appear anywhere (such as C:/BOSS)

Have you checked the troubleshooting section of the readme to see if there's not already a solution to your problem in there.

I have no idea why IE is complaining about the BOSSlog, as said above it is just plain HTML. The masterlist not being found can be a few things, most of which are covered in the readme.
