When you run BOSS.bat can you copy what it says into a codebox here?

Codebox being (code) text (/code) with [] brackets instead of ().

And are you using vista/ windows 7?

Oops. I should know better....I ran the exe. Im so used to running BOSS through Wrye Bash I forgot to run the .bat instead.

Also, the MyFOOK2 - No [censored] Victims.esp file will still be unrecognised, what is the [censored] meant to be?

Ok heres the update. First the name of the file is "MyFOOK2 - No R*a*p*e Victims.esp" (remove asterisks obviously) Not sure what the esp is in the game though. I just know I dont want those in my game.....

It was the mod list that was at issue, not BOSS itself.

This does not look like a stable load order from my experience. In fact - it looks like a very bad idea for a load order.

One method I've implemented for using BOSS with oblivion is to set up another folder outside of data and copy all my esp/esm files over to it and run the tool from there. It will give the readout without touching the mods in the data folder. Since I update mods continually for Oblivion BOSS just does not keep up and this way I get what it recommends without having the frustration to sort again what it does not recognize - and for F3 that is going to be a lot for a while.

I highly encourage overhaul authors to embrace this - so much easier to just say BOSS the load order than to comb over what is apparently a noob load order. Time saver for all involved.

Well, there is no thunder to steal, the BOSS team hadn't came through for FO3, somebody needed to, so I did.


Well actually BOSS' source code has had support to deal with FO3 for some time now, it's just that nobody stepped up to support the actual masterlist. As circumstances would have it, the nudge I gave the initial FO3 list was utterly ignored both times I mentioned it. And as fate would have it, it appears all of the active contributors to the main BOSS project are still modding Oblivion.

If I'm seeing right, you guys have forked the code for use with FO3. The only thing I figure needs to be asked is did anyone ask the BOSS team for permission to do this?

Wait - if AlitheLord didn't asked for permission then - well that is kind of wrong.

Because the readme was so similar to the regular BOSS readme with even PacificMorrowind, Random, and Arthmoor's name in there next to AlitheLord's name - I thought it all legit.

Seems to operate the same as BOSS though.

And Psymon did you download the latest masterlist from the OP? Edit2: Updated it to include those files you added. Got most of them I hope.

Could you let me know if you have any problems (in game or reasons) if the weather mods are loaded early?

Though I definitely prefer the load order of your tool :D

btw talking about FOMS the author is looking for a good load order, since he can't always update it cuz he's working on the program itself (the program is great with template manager, conflict detection, messages and all)

well this is my first post over in the Fallout section... due to FO not being my type of game (which is limited to only TES games)... but adminstrating BOSS so clearing a bit of stuff up.
BOSS has codewise supported FO3 for many months, and the FO3 masterlist has been up on google code for the last month and a half or so (something like that anyways), with only a smidge of mods listed... the only thing that has changed is that someone who does play FO3 (AliTheLord) has kindly volunteered to do additions to the masterlist, and since it was over 300 esp/ms I figured it was time to post it for easier access. As mentioned above, I am totally not involved in the FO3 community, so I was not aware of another LO sorting solution having been started; if I had been I would have pmed the creator and started a dialogue - I appologize for the lack of communication there.
Also re: the post about the readme not being updated in the download... I was evidently really not paying proper attention because I uploaded two old files out of a folder of four files with two old and two ne on Sunday night... fixed and the masterlist is updated on Nexus again.
@@JustinOther (and anyone else with enough knowledge to do changes): If you're at all interested in doing more than a few changes I can certainly give you commit permisions to the svn source... easiest way to keep it all up to date and not have conflicting versions of the masterlist floating around (which is annoying and bad).

Yes, I see now that he did upload it. Probably wasn't strictly necessary, but less confusing for people that way. The masterlist is where the real magic happens.

Well I have a suggestion. There is now BOSS, FOMS, and FOLOT all appearing to be doing largely the same thing. I admit that I haven't used any of these tools yet (my load order is pretty simple actually . . . makes FWE development less cumbersome). In anycase, I'd like to see if there is interest in posting on this board a master load order list that isn't associated with any one program or the other, but is just a general load order listing. I looked over the BOSS masterlist and it looks pretty good to me, although I admit I don't run most of those mods. Not everyone's going to to download and load these tools, and having a master list in one place that can be discussed and openly available for any of the load order tools would be a big asset.

Okay, minor rant. The FOIP program set out to manage the load order and compatiblity for the major overhauls. There is also the set of CP's developed by streetstar5 (and previously by Offkorn) on the nexus for the FWE-FOOK merger, which actually provides CP's for a lot more than just FOOK-FWE. It also includes support for project beauty, EVE, UWWUT, etc... All of this needs to be brought back under a common umbrella and framework for managing load order and compatiblity patches. I've been talking with streetstar5 some about his work, and we'll see where we get, but there are still a lot of holes to fill. For example, you can use the FWE-FOOK merger to get support for project beauty, but not just project beauty and FWE. The modularity of the FOIP framework and the standaized namaing convention is what made it useful, and I'd like to continue to expand that.

Brining it back. My hope is that a common load order master list can be used not just for managing the user experience, but also help identify the gaps and holes in compatiblity so FOIP (or whatever else) can respond appropriately.

Actually, Claviticus dropped the FOLOT project when BOSS-F came online. And, I haven't seen any progress on FOMS is a long time. So, I don't think attempting to keep common resources available to all three projects will accomplish anything.

BOSS has proven itself in the Oblivion modding community, and as long as it gets proper attention here (as Alithelord has begun), BOSS-F seems to me the way to go here as well.

I'm definitely on board for BOSS-F as I trusted BOSS with my plugins for Oblivion. I do feel bad about Claviticus' project coming to a halt because of this though. Perhaps he can work with Ali to make BOSS-F the best it can be...

I'm completely open to this idea; FOLOT has been given to Timeslip, who is going to change it to recognise the BOSS way of writing things. And as for FOMS, there as been some activity from the author recently. His masterlist is in a completely different format to BOSS's and takes a lot more time to add mods (in my opinion.) It does, however, offer the most functionality in the way of conflict detectors, although BOSS will warn about possible conflicts.

FOMS unfortunately crashes on start for me though.

In any case I will continue to work on the BOSS masterlist, and thus also the FOLOT built into FOMM.

I simply dont have the time to work on the FOMS masterlist.

It would be nice if BOSS-F was set up in a manner similar to John.Moonsugar's mlox for Morrowind.

Then you could compare suggested load order changes to your current load order and adopt the changes or not.
