[REL] BOSS for Oblivion

Can you set the verbosity and debug logging settings in the BOSS.ini to 3 and true respectively, then post the contents of your BOSSDebugLog.txt? You might have to upload it somewhere instead, it can get pretty big.
I can do better than that. I can tell you exactly what the error is.

It crashes when you have an OVERRIDE rule in your userlist.txt that overrides the position of a group to move it before/after another group. I took that rule out, and it works.

The rule I was using is:
Spoiler
OVERRIDE: Thievery, Sneaking and Crime
BEFORE: Magic

Well that's certainly more helpful. I was wondering why it was only crashing for Oblivion... I'll take a look at fixing that then.

Just wanted to pop in to say that I also get the unhandled exception running it normally (installed locally) for Skyrim. Runs fine if I run it as Admin though (Win7 x64 Home Premium, UAC at default settings, no file permissions adjusted, Steam installed outside of Program Files location - C:\Games\Steam). Also, I don't user a userlist at all in case that helps. The error happens after downloaded the mastlist, and acts just like the tracker says - one it's run once as admin, works fine from then on until a restart. My guess is it's the Windows Virtual Store or some other similar funkyness with Win7 causing the problem.

:yuck:

Can you generate a debug log for me then (instructions in reply to shadowborn)? I think it's probably trying to read your plugins.txt or something but the debug log should give a better clue (or I need to add more debug statements...).

EDIT: Also, I will get on and add the reported unrecognised plugins soon, I promise!

Thanks for BOSS 2.0! I'm having a few issues with Wrye Bashing now since the new version. Since they didn't happen before I installed BOSS I'm going to explain them here (let me know if they need to go to the WB thread), I think they have to do with BOSS tagging.

mz_shields.esp and mz_shields_SI.esp from http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10376 have lost all tags, is this correct?
the tagging on TamrielTravellersItemsNPC from http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387 prevents it from being imported when bashing (it does not show up as a dot box, but rather as non-active).
I wish I would have looked more closely but it seems that a handful of mods were recognized differently (highlighted black) in the merge dialog when Bashing for the first time after installing BOSS 2.0.

Thanks.

edit: Something is really wrong, many of my FCOM tags are missing. MMM and OOO tags have largely disappeared, none of my masters have tags anymore! Can this be corrected without re-installing?
edit2: I see the tags are still in the BOSS master list, is there any way to force them on to the files in Wrye Bash since they're mostly missing (or do I have to go through by hand and add them)?
edit3: I get it, it removed all tags that weren't located in the description box of each mod the first time I ran it. Subsequent runs seem to handle tag changes fine. What gives?

That'll be because Wrye Bash 295.5 doesn't know where to look for the masterlist correctly for BOSS v2.0.

On the topic of Craftybits, all the "glue" plugins are not recognised, currently: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41774

In addition, http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41786 appears not to be.
Hello,

Don't know if that has been already reported: according to BOSS Echo_ChapelChant.esp (CRC 1463180E) needs cleaning (2 ITM), but TES4Edit
doesn't find neither ITM nor UDR. The CRC in the masterlist is the same as calculated with Wrye Bash.

AFK_Weye.esp needs to have the Actors.AIPackages tag added to it. This mod adds AI packs to a few of the stock NPCs which will get lost without this tag if other mods (like FCOM) import AI packages for the same NPCs.

I seem to recall reporting this a while ago, but I don't think it ever made it onto the master list. Thanks.

About Trade & Commerce mod http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=39255
I read in comments:
A previous poster (Bluegunk - thanks for that) had my problem, i changed the load order after Better Cities and it put the mod in, though i had to remove it and reinstall it to make the shop actually appear. Everytime i run Boss though i will have to manually put the esp back to load after Better Cities.
Bluegunk comment is also there, on the previous page.

Can't verify it ATM, but maybe T&C should be loaded after BC just in case?

I use T&C with BC closed Chorrol and I've never had problems with the BOSS order.

Also, you can easily customize/change mod ordering by editing the userlist.txt (see BOSS User Rules ReadMe).

More graphics. Should load after TGND.esp. Should also be clean.

1. Have you been talking to Dubiousness? He's the only other one I know that gets the crash issue, and I can't reproduce it. Anyway, what 2.0 fails at shouldn't affect 1.9.1. It should be impossible, unless something funny is happening with your memory cache. I'm not going to try troubleshooting Windows though.
You may have already caught this, but I found the reason 1.9.1 wasn't working when called from Bash. It's because it's trying to pop up the dialogue box asking if you want to upgrade to 2.0, but can't. Setting the relevant value in the ini fixes it, and allows BOSS to run properly when called by Bash.

Ah, so that's what it was. I've been aware that it would be an issue since I first added the updater, and I told Lojack so ages ago, but he's either forgotten about or has just been too busy to accommodate it. I don't really blame him.

I hit the same issue with BUM and released an update that displays the BOSS window when running so people can answer the message - probably best to leave it like that to avoid future hangs (unless there is a new command line switch that allows the version check to be suppressed :)

Thank you for update of this great utility. But I must report a problem I've encountered with the version 2.0.0 - the BOSS icon won't show anymore in the Wrye Bash Application Buttons bar (the one at the bottom). Is this intentional? Also, when I run BOSS via BOSS.exe, it doesn't seem to have any influence on the load order in Wrye Bash (in spite of checked option in WB that lets BOSS change the load order, as always - I haven't changed any settings for months). It recognizes all plugins, opens the browser window with the list, reads whether plugins need cleaning or not, sorts them in the right order, but nothing happens in WB. Am I missing something?

Right, that's fixed in the SVN release of Bash.

It's a version control system. In this case, I'm referring to the latest development build of Bash. In the main Bash thread, see the first post. All the links are in there. :)

Hi, wrinkly.

Updated to v2.0 and ran into the same problem as maczopikczo. Went off to the Wrye Bash thread and downloaded the SVN. Seems I screwed up the install of what looked like something I could handle, and I'm now stuck with sorting out the mess I made.

Might I suggest you post some kind of warning (for those less accomplished, such as my self) that would indicate the potential problems with Wrye Bash involved with the V2.0 update.

Thanx for all you do and have done to increase my gaming pleasure.

Viva BOSS !
