I tried installing this version for BOSS in my Fallout 3 installation. It works flawlessly in my Oblivion installation, but when I run the copy in my Fallout 3 data folder, it crashes. I did follow the installation instructions in the readme to the letter.


Just in case anyone else is having the problem and hasn't also seen the Oblivion thread - it's due to plugins that don't have lowercase extensions. (ie. ESP,Esp,eSp,esP,ESp,EsP,eSP,the same for esms.) BOSS won't recognise them as mods in your data folder and that leads to various problems resulting in a crash and possibly a messed up load order. It's already been fixed in the source code and 1.61 should be released fairly soon. I'll most likely post a message again here when it is.

EDIT: FO3 Nexus BOSS page needs an update - not sure who's got the editing access for it, but while I wouldn't recommend pointing to 1.6 due to the above bug, when 1.61 is released, it might be an idea to link to the TES Nexus page, or upload it to the FO3 Nexus page. Not sure if you want to continue with the BOSS-F differentiation or not, that's up to you guys.

As promised, a message: BOSS 1.61 has been released, and is available for download from the TES Nexus BOSS page. Changes include a fix for mangled load orders and crashes that 1.6 was experiencing due to non-lowercase file extensions, so it's recommended that you upgrade if using 1.6. If you're still on 1.5, or the equivalent BOSS-F, I'd also recommend upgrading - although this has a beta tag too, that's because we don't know that it is stable, not because we know it's got bugs, and the only way we can find out if it is stable is if people try it. That, and it does have a heap of improvements over BOSS-F/BOSS 1.5. :)

I currently have commit rights to BOSS and have been mostly and intermittently just handling http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1132338-boss-for-nehrim/ (total conversion for Oblivion) mods, but I still do play Fallout3 and have not move on to New Vegas.

I would not call myself an expert on these mods or on Fallout mod load order quirks. So if you are the author or know of better placement please let me know.

I may look at others to add that have been posted above, but can get kind of busy with other projects, real life, and Oblivion gaming. So I would not call my commitment level high.

What would make doing these easier is having the exact spelling of the mod ... such as AlexScorpion's and Weijiesen's Smoking Fun.esp and the link. PLUS a description of what kind of mod and where it ought to go. Otherwise think about it - it would require reading up on it myself (or whoever does do it) and researching that info myself.

Please feel free to edit posts above to add a '- quest mod, I load after so and so mod that is recognized' after your entries. Otherwise this is a very tedious task and not fun to get through. If you are gungho and want to contribute please contact WrinklyNinja or other BOSS admin person and ask to sign up.

[edit] Also while looking at the masterlist I see that StreetLights.esm is loading before BrokenSteel.esm ... why is that?

Just a heads up post. The FO3 Nexus BOSS page has finally been updated with a new stable version of BOSS (1.64). It is a massive improvement over the old version of BOSS which was hosted there, containing heaps of fixes and improvements and new features, so I'd recommend that everyone upgrades ASAP.

I see that not much has been happening on the FO3 side of BOSS, so all those reported unknowns haven't yet been added. I'm not sure what's up with that, the committers must just be very busy (as usual! :P). If anyone does feel like lending them a hand, just PM one of the Google Code admins (PacificMorrowind or I are probably best), and we can get you started.

Well sorry I've not updated in a while - got lost in Nehrim which in turn dragged me into playing Gothic 3 foe the first time and I'm liking it.

Though I encourage anyone with the passion to update BOSS to contact the team linked in the first post.

It seems daunting at first but after making a few commits it is cake actually - and talk about always having your load order up to date.

I'm much more familiar with Oblivion overhauls and as such I don't feel as comfortable placing the overhauls for Fallout3.

Done some testing and it seems if you allow Wrye Flash to merge these plugins they don't work. I've tried deathitems tags to no avail, so these need to be active in order to work.

Not even sure if it was out after BOSS for F3 was out.

But here is a novel idea - if it is so important to you why don't you step up and become a member? it is not difficult.

I don't know about it being silly, but with the thousands of mods out there, its inevitable that some still haven't been added.
Arthmoor writes the code, he is probably not involved with updating the masterlist very much if at all.

I wasn't aware anyone could join and start adding unknowns. The other thing is tho, I have no idea where mods should actually go, hence my need to BOSS my load order about. My Oblivion game was rediculasly unstable untill I started using BOSS.

So what are you asking here? ( I don't normally update the FO3 masterlist, so a little more explanation please.)

This More ammo mod is behaving oddly for my. Maybe its because FO3 handles mods differently to OBlivion and it's a Wrye Flash issue. Anyhow, I installed it via BAIN and the esps showed up green, so I merged them into the bashed patch and went off to play. There was no difference in the amount of ammo I found on dead thnigs I'd killed, so I activated the plugings and retested and it worked correctly. I then tried merging the plugins and added different tags (like death.items and invent) but they still didn't work, they have to be active. Adding the nomerge tag makes Flash want to deactivate them automatically, which is wrong (I use several ob mods taged with nomorge which need to be active). Anyhow - it seems this is a Wyre flash issue.
I you could be so kind as to add the more ammo plugins I listed previously I would be most grateful :)
They could go with other ammo adding mods, but the only other ones I've seen just increase vendor stocks - not actually put more on the dead bodies.

Sorry if I sounded rude, I really didn't mean to. I thought it oddly ammusing that Arthmoor's only FO3 mod isn't on the masterlist despite him added several hundred to oblivion's, many at my request!
