Boston after Dark quest completion problem

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 2:24 am

Playing on Xbox One, during the quest "Boston After Dark", where I am required to secure the rendezvous point and wait until Old Man Stockton, the quest never updates to saying "area secured" even though I have eliminated all nearby enemies. So Old Man Stockton never shows up, leaving me unable to further the Railroad storyline. Is there a patch for this coming out or has anyone found a work-around? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that no matter if I kill the enemies in the area (I have searched intensely and wiped out all nearby enemies in the area), the quest never updates to say the meeting point is secure. This causes Old Man Stockton to never show. Restarted multiple times with the same outcome. I have tried waiting at all times. 0ver 3 days an hour at a time in different locations exactly on and nearby the quest arrow. Still no fix unfortunately. I really wanted to do the Railroad missions. :(

Is there any workaround to this? I'm too stuck on clearing the zone. I even loaded a save before I started the mission and the same thing happens. Will it be fixed in the patch?

Today is day 9 since I posted this issue. I cannot continue the Railroad storyline any futher, which is a shame because this was the faction I was most looking forward to playing with. Do Bethesda employees ever read these forum posts and reply one way or the other. I've put so much time into the game there is no way I could delete all the saves and restart from the beginning.

You might be forced to talk to the railroad to finish the storyline at one point. I'm not 100% sure though, so someone else may be able to enlighten you. What I am certain of is that you are locked out of playing with the Railroad any further. Either way, your best bet is just to restart. And no, I have never seen a Bethesda employee reply to these posts.

For those on PC, you can fix this using the console. If you're stuck at the objective clearing objective, type and enter "setstage RRM01 400" into the console to finish this objective and start up the next one.

OP, this quest is certainly completable, I did so for the second time today.

There may be something you are doing that makes your play-through an 'edge case', that the devs did not expect.

One solution is to check out a youtube of the mission, and try to replicate the weapon, the companion, the route, etc.

Because there may be something you are doing which you find obvious that is triggering a bug in the game.

If a youtuber completes the mission using xyz technique,

then you matching xyz should work equally well.

To state that a quest fails for you and asking for a fix is wholly unsolvable from a development perspective

because unless devs can reproduce the problem, they can't address it.

If there are enough complaints they might try testing the quest randomly in the hope that they trip over the problem,

but that could be a needle in a haystack.

Sofajockey, I really appreciate your advice and thank you. I unfortunately have tried to exactly emulate several YouTube playthroughs hoping it would be a fix. From what I can tell, the problem is that normally what is supposed to happen in the questis that 3 raiders spawn at the location you are supposed to secure by killing them. For some reason only 2 raiders spawn for me, causing the area to never be "secured". I have scoured every inch of the surrounding area for hours looking for the "missing" raider in vain.
