Excuse me??? You think that a simple confession erases terrorism that killed innocent people?

I can't believe people are actually sympathetic to this "kid" that directly participated in the killing of innocents

I just hope he fesses up and gives us a reason why they did it.

I think he is saying that there is no proof that he is a muslim terrorist that it is all speculation and we really have no idea why they did it. He, like me, is just curious as to why he did it. If it was for muslim terrorism then thats that, if not then why?

Considering they are Muslim, that is going to be the first assumption.

True, but it is not the only possibility either. Most people seem to be only acting as if that assumption is the only possibility and that is what we are getting tired of.

We all know that old adage about assumptions.

I'm not sympathetic, I'm just a man firmly rooted in justice. A man shouldn't be punished for his accused crimes until he has been tried. In the eyes of the common man his fleeing makes him very guilty in that worldly 'we know' sense. But we still must hold to law and order. To rule by our anger and emotion as opposed to reason is what led to things like the Salem Witch Trials. Care to prove me wrong? How many have 'Terrorist' on their mind the moment mentions Islam, Muslim, or Middle East? These are a prejudiced thoughts, prejudiced thoughts lead to unfair judgement.

Condemn me as a sympathiser if you want, but I'm a man of reason and just ruling, not finger pointing by circumstance.

Not sympathy for the perpetrator. Sympathy for the billions of Muslims worldwide that are negatively affected by the acts of two idiots not to mention the hundreds of Bostonians of my home state.

With every faith, view, idea or creed there is a radical. Keep that in mind.

I have not heard of such a video, and even if they cant pin the bombing on him he was still involved in a shooting. There will be no free walking for him any time soon.

We, the mass public, do not have access to all of the facts surrounding these events. We look back at witch hunts with disdain and contempt because a crowd of people being stirred by bloodlust can hardly come to a rational, proper decision. Simply because you are already acting under the assumption that he did this, you are condemning him without knowing the entire picture.

He's not saying he should walk free, but that the evidence (including that footage) needs to be reviewed by judge and jury rather than just saying "He did it, lock him up", because even though in this case he is likely guilty, it sets a precedent. Who's to say next time there isn't a little less evidence but they say "Well we locked up the marathon bomber with about as much to go on".

He needs to face trial now that he is in custody.

I believe they have footage of him with the back-back/bag, bending over or something, then coming back up without the bag, while an eyewitness in the crowd that was hit corroborates this by saying he saw one of them (don't remember which one) doing just that.

Then you're one of few. Granted, mine isn't much better, as I imagine Mosques, sands and hot suns, and such. But IMO these aren't bad compared to some.

As for the boy who is accused in the bombings, if the evidence points him to guilt, then let justice swing its sword, not us.

Yeah, this was bumming me out earlier. A Muslim friend and coworker was asking me today "What if I went out and bought a pressure cooker today? Do you think they'd call the police on me?" I had to admit, I thought they would. And then we laughed. It's either that or cry.

I feel bad for your friend. This reminds me of the Wizards First Rule:

People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

Applying that rule, what are your views on the bombers?

Edit: Damn, post 200.
