I would.
I remember getting lost down there for hours upon hours, constantly searching for something new or weird.
Thoughts?
I wouldn't mind the metro being present, so long as it isn't used to justify chopping the world up into smaller pieces like it was in Fallout 3.
Make it 1 big location to explore and be allowed to come above ground (preferably without loading) or don't bother.
Yes! One of my fave places in Fallout was walking down the dark tunnels, wouldn't mind them making it more interactive say repairing emergency generators to get some extra lights on and making the station protectorons more useful in helping clear and keep the metro clear
Metro 2033 like stuff could work for a part of the game.
But Boston has a metro/subway system. So why they wouldn't add it, would be a bit strange.
Yes it does, and IIRC, it is the oldest in the nation. I'm not from Boston and have never even been there, but from what I've read, it's not entirely underground. I don't think there's much chance of it being as big a PITA to navigate as the DC Metro was in FO3.
The metro in FO3 does not become a pain in the butt to navigate once you read the signs and maps.
Those "smaller pieces" were actually at a larger scale than the main worldspace.
Heck, yeah. I also got lost in those tunnels for what seemed like hours at a time. I'd then pop out somewhere in the city, Explore that area, then take the next tunnel entrance. I'm still not sure if I've actually explored all the areas in FO3.
I like the metro system. Usually it has undesirables that need to be weeded out.
Sure never felt like it. All of the DC districts that were separated from the rest of the world felt tiny to me. Maybe because of the claustrophobic and samey environments that were confusing to navigate because it was hard to remember which metro tunnel you needed to take to get where you wanted.
As much as I admit to wanting to Nuka Break my screen navigating that horrid maze of networks, I am compelled to admit that I would be less pleased if it were not so complex.
I was forced to set down with a paper and pen at one point. Some might call that archaic to board games. I call it another element of interaction.
Do I enjoy being frustrated?
No.
However, it is that reason why I am forced to implement measures to not be frustrated and to use what remaining brain cells I have left and put the controller down for other tools. I welcome and often plead for complexity, especially in puzzles and that's just what the metro is. Be careful what you wish for, I guess.
I enjoyed labyrinths and mazes. I just didn't like how the metros were used as a "cheat" to disconnect the world and I felt they were over relied upon a little.
I'd much rather have a few expansive metro tunnels with 24 different exits than 80 different tunnels that were smaller, more linear, and more frustrating to figure out if you picked the right one.
I get that, why I suggested more interactions. Would be nice to have some more results from it then just ghoul, ghoul, ghoul, radroach, ghoul exit. Maybe some interesting hold out points, activate a generator and get the security booth working, find the tunnels full of raiders/ghouls/mutants letting you set up an ambush, you trigger the lights and they charge up to find you and your mines!
...I'd be happy to just turn on a gen and get the lights working, but more uses of mines and interation with the world would be a good addition personally.
What if there was a functioning metro system? The people from the Institute would be technological knowledgeable.
Feral gouls swarm runing on you like an alien movie, yes i want to see horrible death, killing from the roof, surprise get me!
Its not just the metro, but the underground highways (Big Dig)
