Bots Difficulty

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:10 pm

Greetings!

I have one concern regarding this game - bots. As far as I understood everytime someone leaves a match a bot replaces him, so it will always be 8v8 matches? Now, if that is true, how exactly will these bots act, will there be difficulty levels coordinating with player levels currently in the game? Because, lame bots could just be a handicap for the team, and one could easily be better of without them. Anyone got any info on this?

Basically you play in "ranks" so the bot will be the same "rank" so it is able to use what is available for you and others to use.

These people that played the game and "couldn't see the difference between AI and real players" played the game for like a few hours tops. You cannot compare it to someone playing for, lets say, half a year. And I read it there, someone said that you can turn bots off. Is that official, or just someones opinion? Thanks.

It's official on "freeplay" servers they have options like that, but for story driven servers, I don't think you can turn them off as you need a balanced 8v8.

A few hours? Well a few hours is enough to tell if bots are doing the same thing over and over again. EG: Bots in CS they are so predictable.

I think no matter how good the bots are. its better to have them than to just have an emty slot in the game.

Man it's unbelievable how similar to humans AI are becoming. Sooner or later we won't even HAVE to play video games because we'll have bots playing them for us while we sit on our asses with a bag o' tater chips, coke, and vanilla ice cream.

WHAT?!? You don't believe me. Check out Splash Damage's new http://www.splashdamage.com/myface

tbh i would favour a half decent bot that attempts missions over human players that don't do objectives at all.

I wonder how booting players will work actually. if the bots end up being decent i can see a lot of human players being booted from games.
