Early on, you may want a back-up weapon, just in case. It is a mid-level spell, so the cost is pretty high early on. Will you be using sneak, also? I would recommend it

I did a play through with it. I'd highly suggest getting conjuration skill up there because base magicka cost is ridiculous. 206.

Buy Bound Sword as soon as possible (Riverwood), and always keep it active while making the beeline to Fort Amol. Build Magicka on Level Ups, and Perk the Conjuration Tree to reduce casting cost.

Altmer is the race of choice here. Not having boosts in archery like other races becomes irrelevant later on, while +50 magicka is +50 magicka.

If you're not using a lot of other magic, I'd recommend light armor, with a hood until you actually get a helmet fortifying magicka. Maybe use atronach stone until you have adept conjuration.

I like to play a Breton when I'm planning on using Bound Bow. The boost in conjuration helps, and if you get the novice hood you can always disenchant it and make magicka boosters from that. I usually don't use armor with that sort of build, prefering instead things like the mage's robe that boost magicka regeneration.
