Bounty Hunting!

Post » Fri Jun 26, 2009 2:22 pm

Ok, so i know in the games that if you're truly evil, npc regulators will come after you. I would love to be one of those regulators. Here's how it could probably work. In settlements, there would be a wall full of wanted posters. you walk up to it and "use" the wall, and a list of names would appear. It would show the names of people who have full bad karma. You select a name and it gives you a rundown on some of their stats, but more importantly, where they were last seen (not where they are, as that would take the thrill out of hunting). It will add a contract (if you decide to hunt them or not with the handy "are you sure?" notice) in your inventory that states that it's OK to kill this person without getting uber bad karma. When you eventually find them and hopefully kill them (As they can fight back). You search their body and find a death mark which you can redeem at (I dunno, a vendor or something? Maybe a special bounty office somewhere) for cold, hard caps. Anyone with me?

I have no idea if something like this was announced already. If so, feel free to ignore this thread. I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

yup, bounty hunting... good guys and evil guys would be awesome to see.

Hell, people could put bounties on other Bounty Hunters and then Bounty Hunters would be hunting each other!

Damn!

Could put a huge bounty on oneself to lure out some great reclusive bounty hunter and have an epic PvP hunter showdown!

Damn! MMO's... MMO's never change...

It would be interesting, but nah, i was thinking it would be automatic. But if they're doing the reputation system, then they would have bounties sent out by the faction (player or npc) they've wronged (not like some small, here-and-there thefts, but actual killing and looting) then you would turn in the deathmark to the leader of the faction

Speaking of player factions, will there be guilds? I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

RE; BOUNTY HUNTING
i like the idea of being able to take on a role such as bounty hunter / contract killer or travelling vendor it would broaden any game :D , too many games are just too alike lacking any imagination , go kill this guy now go there jump through a few hoops defeat the boss hooray you win ,boring . been there done that . when it comes down to tracking a crafty vet player or stealth assassination of a rival your dealing with a real person not a boring npc which follows a pattern i always prefer online gaming to single player gaming for that reason . if v13 does take on board {please gamesas} some of these suggestions made by their square eyed minions i will be one of the first to throw my money at them , if however they just stick to the same old formula of deathmatch ,pvp etc i may as well dust off my ps3 and just choke down the foulness that they have to offer . please gamesas give us what weve been longing for a real gamers game EAGLES MAY FLY HIGH, BUT WEASLES DONT GET svckED INTO JET ENGINES

Sounds reasonable, but there's always something wrong about a bounty system in a MMO (tested, tryed to find a sollution, but there are always small glitches).
Best will be a PvP area where there will be some unique creatures (everybody needs a motivation), but the zone should be lootable (lose some raw materials or things like this).
Only bounty hunting should be involved in some small quests or so where you hunt down a NPC, get a drop to prove and collect your reward. Now, if there's a bounty that shouldn't mean that the NPC always exists in the universe; I mean it should have some random time interval when it'll spawn, but some designated areas (so bounty hunting won't be an explorer's manner).
