Bounty problem...

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:30 pm

I have no idea if somebody brought this up already (as I cannot find the search-option on this forum  ), but is there a solution, console or normal, to get rid of this problem?

It started after I did the Forsworn quest and escaped from prison in Markarth. After that I killed somebody for the Dark Brotherhood quest line, a guard saw it and came running. I just wanted to pay my bounty and be on my way, but this was not an option. The only dialogue options were going to prison or fighting. Suddenly, going to prison was also not an option. The guard kept telling me that I was going to spend the rest of my days inside the prison, but I never went to prison. After he stopped talking, another guard would speak to me and give me the same options, over and over and over and over.... you get my point.

Also, while I am a member of the Thieves guild, I cannot pay of my crimes in that way, so now I cannot enter Markarth without killing more guards and cannot enter dialogue with other NPC because the guards will just kill me while I am talking....

Can anyone help me?

Go to prison... not all that bad of an option. You'll find a way out.

I have the same bug, going to prison isn't possible. They just say they'll take you cihdna mine and then the dialogue restarts until you pick "I'd rather die than submit" (cause you've already done the cihdna mine quest)

Maybe removing your bounty is an option, but I do not know if there is a console command to remove bounty.... Does anyone know?

Is this where I got my 1000 bounty from then?

I have been confused for ages on how I amassed such a bounty when I have never been caught or accused of murder but I did have a feeling it was something to do with the forsworn quest yet none of the guards seem bothered about it.

It could be a bug to do with the getting arrested part of that quest where you get sent to the mine but committing a crime afterwords will trigger the bug?

I'll test it now and see.

Going to prison in Markarth is not only bounty related, but also quest related, maybe that's where your problem comes from.

I've also had a dialog where they said a 'certain organisation' could clear bounties. Haven't got any experience with it, so don't know if it is even possible to clear it that way.

Yes, there should be, I remember tampering with it in Oblivion just for fun (to start a megabrawl).

/edit: found it. It was "player.setcrimegold 0". I assume it'll be the same for skyrim, since enableracemenu etc. is still the same? Can't test it right now, am working. ahem. ^^

Kill everyone in Markarth. Or sneak/illusion.

Going to jail in Markarth will open up a whole new quest line, that's probably why. It actually continues a quest you probably got started and gained the bounty from in the first place. And yes there is a certain guild that will erase your bounties if you join them.

In Oblivion you could player.payfine and it would go away, but that hasn't worked here. But seriously, you should go to jail there and see what happens.
