Bow miss fires and more: never done it before in over 2000 h

Post » Thu Apr 04, 2013 6:46 am

Hi all!

Now before I begin --just to clarify-- before you go saying that I don’t know how to use the bow let me just say that I have over 2,000 of play time in Skyrim. I know how to use a bow.
Lately I am having this problem when and where I will arm my bow, [censored] it back all of the way and it just flops to the ground. I try it again and the same thing happens two or three times in a row, before it will stop doing it and I can fire off a shot. (In the meantime I have alerted the enemy and they are on top of me.) Sometimes it will [censored] by itself before it even grabs an arrow: and, I don’t even have my fingers on the mouse buttons or wheel. It’s totally glitchy. Any ideas?

Are you a vampire necromage?
Did you take the second perk of slow time for archers?

Did you complete Dragonborn?
Did you erase your archery perks and took a slow time perk for archery again after that?

That could cause what you are experiencing. There seems to be something wonky with this perk that makes archery bug out when it exceeds a certain value, more than you would regularly get for the second perk.
In the case of necromage vampirism, they get a 25% boost to these http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1385179-perks-affected-by-necromage-as-a-vampire/ and so should never take the second one as that will make it exceed this value.
In the case of Dragonborn perk reset, there are several http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1441799-warning-perk-reset-feature-read/ that get removed but their effect does not get reset and stays with the character, which will result in exceeding the mentioned value on taking the perks a second time.

Extrapolating from your signature you play on pc. Perhaps there is a way to remove or reduce this perk manually, if this is what causes your problem? I dont know because I play on xbox.
Good luck though.

This happens a lot when I auto-switch arrows (i.e. going from glass to daedric while in combat,) but otherwise, I don't know.

I am just starting a new game from a very fresh reinstall. I am not a vampire and I don't have the DragonBorn DLC. As for perks I have the following:

1.) Overdraw x2
2.) Eagle Eye
3.) Power Shot
4.) Steady Hand x1
5.) Critical Shot x1

I am only using Elven Arrows.
