Bow Is OverPowered

Post » Sun Mar 23, 2014 4:17 am

Sniping is not over powered because if it was over powered it would of one shotted any enemy player in Cyrodiil which it did not. Most I've seen it take off is maybe 40%. And bows are not over powered.

Can't say how the bow is overall, but judging by that video and my own experience with it, that sneak attack damage could do with a nerf.

I mean, how is it defendable that a weapon that's both safer and easier to sneak attack with is doing more damage than something that's considerably riskier and more difficult to use?

Pfft, calling anything OP is just ridiculous.

Bows can be easily countered,

1) you can get pulled for one..every class could do this if they morphed the silverbolt skill from the fighters into silver leash.

2) Ever heard of the Aliance skill line? Did anyone even inspected the defensive line? Does siege shield come to mind?

No weapon is OP, all have their weaknesses. All that players have to do is to exploit them.

My advice: Stop complaining and start thinking about counters.

Bows are a little OP, but if they nerf the damage on the bow, they best increase the range of each attack to compensate for it.

Hmm, I looked again at the original post, and saw nothing of this in it. This exactly what I'm talking about wanting to see. Now I will take a look at it.

The youtube video proves nothing.

You need to add lizard and spock.

If bows get nerfed anymore than they are already, I for one will be very disappointed.

1.) not overpowered because you run out of stamina it's not like Templar was where healing could be spammed forever and never run out of majicka now is it?

2.) If idiots are going to afk standing up, hey are going to get powned by everything.

3.) got killed by melee superfast plenty in Cyrodill a lot faster than the 6-7 shots that archer in the video took to down one guy oh yea he had to finish with a lightning strike looked pretty weak to me.

4.) elemental staff attacks don't fall to the ground they travel until they hit you, while arrows only go so far before they fall to the ground.

5.) your sample rate is like 20 come back when it is 100k, who has the metrics to do that? oh wait ZOS does.

6.) that archer had a lot of buffs not everyone will have.

I love to play bow characters.

So i made a sword n board templar.

at level 12'ish I had I think around 2 or 3 gap closers, stamina and magicka based, all of which also stunned or did something.

I /lol'd at ranged characters except sorc.

Bow overpowered?

Cant cast enough /lol...

Like seriously... 2h even gets a gap closer as soon as you.. well pick a 2h and have a skill point available.

the only melee "class" would be sorc who would only have the weapon gap closer, the rest have a gap closer in their class skills, which combined with weapon skills means you will never be truly at range, only melee if your target.

One thing I see people mentioning a lot is that bow users are easy to wreck when you get in close... what exactly makes a bow user (that also has a second weapon) more squishy than anyone not using a bow? Just curious really..

It just takes a little situational awareness really. If someone gets up on you, you switch out to a melee weapon or hit them with a stun and kite. The ppl that are "squishy" bow users are the ones that really don't know how to operate a ranged profession.

Bow have always had the same issue, either they give them WAY to many ways to keep the distance and let them strafe run forwards so nobody can ever catch them, making them OP as holy hell or they make them basically melee characters when it comes to pvp which normally ends up with them being underpowered. It'd be nice if somebody could work out a good balance but lets face it, the only real option here is to take advantage of having 2 setups of weapons by making sure 1 is the weapon you want to use and the other is a bow, then you can switch as bows go between god weapons and pea shooters.

Hehe good, wanted that :D

Anyway, what I meant is that ia EXHAUSTED the bow play styles during the beta's, so I tried the melee counterpart, safe to say I just never lost to ranged, ever. Sorc would give me trouble, and could be more of a trouble to some one without self heals, but still...

Of course this was 1v1, 2vs1's, range has its advantage in large groups, but if caught SLIGHTLY out of place, boom, there he goes, and god forbid if a bowman gets caught by a full pledged sorcerer (any class, but of course the actual sorc class is better), he gets so insta gibbed its no fun at all.

Basically as a bowman you either stay in large groups and shoot randomly and pray for heals, or get the upper hand by sneaking, and pray your target takes 1-2 seconds to react to you.
