Crossbows are awesome, and more acurated than bows.

make it pack a hard punch and have good range, but make it not very accurate for the inexperienced and have a grueling reload time.

no because like he said it would only be better at the begining because most of the perks would be for the bow.

@wintermane youve got a source for this claim?

The german mag has a 1 mage teaser on thier 8 pages of coverage.. in it todd clearly calls it the archery skill.

archery definetly rules out thrown thats for sure.. and im fairly sure archery only refers to bows not xbows so im expecting that out too.

ok i have a proposition to make everyone happy. Crossbows cannot be enchanted nor would there be any enchanted crossbows to find in the game. In real life crossbows had more power for short range, in game they would have shorter range. the strongest crossbow does slightly more physical damage than the strongest longbow. Assuming the longbow is enchantd it still does more damage. The strongest crossbow is also extremely heavy with the longest (of crossbows) reload impractical for frantic combat.
