Bragging Competition

Post » Mon Aug 01, 2011 6:35 pm

Alright so i made this thread for people to bragg about their gaming setup they are going to be playing Skyrim on. Who will be playing Skyrim on the most complete setup? Describe your gaming setup in as much detail as possible and enjoy the feeling of others not being as lucky as you are. Please be serious wth your answers, nothing like"im gunna be playing skyrim on my Computer which runs on Nuclear Power, and is developed by Chuck Norris" and stuff like that.

{ I will be playing Skyrim on a 55'' Plasma HD television with a home theatre surround sound setup. I also have my xbox hooked up to it with a HDMI cable, which means by xbox and all my games that i play on it are in HD. }

Random Fact- Resident Evil Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4 are being remade in HD for PS3 and Xbox 360. Release for these games are in September.

Yes, because owning an Xbox instantly makes you inferior. :trophy:

I like my system.... Its definitely not new or top of the line anymore. I built it about 3 years ago. Its still a core 2 duo processor with 8GB of RAM. Its running 64-bit Vista. The only real updates I have made since then is a GTX 570 graphics card. I also abandoned the typical computer chair/desk for a couch and a 40" Samsung. I have a nice little table for the keyboard and mouse right at the right level.

It means, in most cases, that you have inferior hardware.

Yes. But nevertheless, if someone enjoys playing a game on their big screen TV and doesn't want to PC game, they shouldn't be laughed at just because there hasn't been a new console generation.

I think you must be mistaken there. I dont see how its possible to run on a sub 1Mhz CPU. (Even the 8080 from 1974 was faster then that)

But my computer runs on Nuclear Power, and is developed by Chuck Norris
Oh, well, if uber bragging isn't allowed here, I'll go on with my specs

AMD Phenom X4 3.6Ghz CPU
ASUS GTX 560 TI 1Gb GPU
8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
120Gb SSD + 750Gb SATA2 HDD

note: technically I don't have this system yet, but funds are gathered and on September I'll order parts and will put it together. So that at 10.11.11 system is tested and ready for TES5
Most probably at September I'll be able to get even better parts for same price (I'm thinking about X6 CPU, bigger RAM or better GPU)
But still, it will be more than enough to run Skyrim (and most probably also TES6 :D )

I never laugh at the person playing it although I do think they know nothing about PCs 99% of the time if they do; I laugh how inferior the system is and want myself and others to get better experiences by getting a new gen so the devs are not as limited as they are now and create better games.. and I don't have to rely on Indie devs as I do now that are outdoing 99% of the AAA devs because they are not limited as much

If I tried to play Skyrim on my old busted PC, there would be a popup that said "THE PC CANNOT HANDLE THIS MUCH WIN", and then the computer would explode, so I'll just play it on my Xbox.

The reason I posted what I did was because I honestly expected this to be a PC thread. This is because I dont understand how someone can brag about owning an Xbox. It doesnt matter how big your TV is, you are still playing with a terrible resolution from several feet away.

I think where the OP took a wrong turn was titling this thread "Bragging Competition" - if the focus was sharing and discussing various setups, that's one thing, but it does seem a bit odd to brag about the size of one's HDTV, when Skyrim can only be played at a much lower resolution.

Ultimately I don't see what this thread has to do with Skyrim. It seems more appropriate for Community Discussion.

Exactly. I was expecting a PC thread from the title and the words "gaming setup" until the punchline "my xbox" appeared. Talk about bait and switch.

I have a 6 core with hyperthreading CPU (I7 970, felt there wasn't much point in getting a 980. I always buy the lowest GHZ of the series that I want to buy at the time and then overclock....)
Enjoy your upscaled HD thats stretched across your oversized TV... I'll be playing with sharper HD on my smaller but still more than big enough monitor...
Using a 7.1 surround sound logitech headset, razor lycosa keyboard, cyborg rat mouse, sitting in a leather desk chair with full back and arm support.
Two GTX 570's will be powering the graphics. 2.5GB of video memory will be able to handle all the graphics mods I throw at it. Lots of SP's too, great overclocker, nice and cool.

I hate bragging :/ makes me feel like a dike. But hey its a bragging thread... :sadvaultboy:
