brahmin cows in my settlement building

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 4:55 am

The odd brahmin has decided to turn up at a few of my settlements and they just wander around all the time driving me nuts. Can't seem to find a way to herd them or contain them. Anyone found a way to get them in to a pen?!

There is a feeding trough you can craft that will gather Brahmin to a specific area. It's a misc. object, but I cannot recall the specific category it was in. I'm sure you'll be able to find it.

Place it, wait for the Brahmin to gather, and fence them in. They tend to wander a bit anyway, but most of the time not too far from the trough.

Resources-Misc is the brahmin feeding trough. Important tips though -

1- do NOT place it too close to wall of a house. The feeding trough acts as a magnet to lire and keep brahmin close to theor feeding trough. But when you travel / load settlement, the brahmin spawn / load close to the trough at any angle they can feed from, including clipping through wall of a house.

The brahmin will also try to wander to 'other side' and feed through the wall to get to the trough. Basically very poor pathing AI. Workaround is to place trough so that all sides around it is clear enough for a brahmin to feed without clipping into or making it think has to enter your house, wall, etc to get to the trough.

2- once placed, the trough also helps attract more brahmin even for settlements with zero brahmin. The are nice to have because they produce free fertilizer that is auto deposited into inventory.
