Brain-Dead AI

There was military shooter I played years ago. Looked great, had big, open spaces. Ran off a flight simulator engine. Very pretty. But the AI was oblivious. You could snipe someone, and the guy standing next to him wouldn't flinch. Patrolling soldiers would walk right over the bodies of fallen comrades without notice. Critics would joke about this game's AI.

The Fallout games are nearly as bad, and it seems New Vegas is actually worse than Fallout 3. I'm more than a little disappointed by enemies who will walk right past me without batting an eye. I'm fed up with enemies who can't figure out where shots are coming from. I'm growing bored with the series, and it's largely due to a lackluster AI so tepid that only the most mindless monsters have realistic behaviors.

The AI in the old Half-Life game had more going for it than this, and that game's almost 15 years old.
