Brainstorming session!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:37 am

Now that the first phase of WEPON (Weapon Expansion Pack for Oblivion Nthusiasts, linked in my signature) is wrapped up, the other authors and I have been discussing the mod's future. Keeping to the current theme of being Lore-friendly and complementing the ES series' past, we are looking at adding Adamantium armor and corresponding weapons. As was the case in Arena, Daggerfall, and Tribunal, the Adamantium set would be one notch below Ebony in quality.

But this presents a problem. If we add Adamantium, we also need to add a new Light Armor set; otherwise, the game would have more Heavy Armor than Light Armor. I took a look at previous ES games and didn't find any previous Light Armor sets that were particularly appealing.

The new Light Armor set needs to be in between Mithril and Elven in terms of quality. We may or may not consider adding a new weapon set to go with it as well. Does anyone have any LORE-FRIENDLY suggestions for what this new set could be?

Keep in mind that this work may never be completed, we are only in the "brainstorming" phase at the moment.

Bonemold, Chitin (Indoril too - was a more ornate variation on Chitin) and Netch come to mind if any of those would fit the bill.

Edit: And Templar

I agree about Indoril being a good choice. It has an atmosphere of being less common, and more "worked" in the sense of etched for decorative purposes.

i agree Indroil sounds like a good addition. While i would consider it (at least lore-wise) to be more of a "heavy" armor, since it was medium armor it could go either way.

Aren't Bonemold, Chitin, and netch already included as part of Vvardenfell Imports (and therefore JeLLO), and Warcry? I encounter Templar stuf in FCOM all the time...

Here's one: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Argonian (see under Religion topic)

This hasn't appeared in any game (as far as I'm aware), so you will be able to let your imagination run rather free. Just make sure it looks like its made of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resin, and perhaps give it some Argonian-characteristics (a tail-hole? an elongated helm?).

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Armorer%27s_Challenge

"The two warriors met before the Empress and Imperial Council in the arena, which had been flooded slightly to simulate the swampy conditions of Black Marsh. From the moment Saccus saw Eul in his suit of heavy ebony and blazing dai-katana and Beraid in his collection of dusty, rusted lizard-scales and spear from Hazadir's shop, he knew who would win. And he was right."

Argonians have a resin armor...
And lizard-scales armors was used in Blackmarsh...

So, how about a resin armor with lizard-scales ? :hehe:
