Braun vs. House

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 12:30 am

Who is your favorite immortal character in Fallout?

I like Braun best. It takes a real sadistic mind to torture people forever in a virtual reality simulator as a little girl. If he had beein in Vegas instead of House I think New Vegas would have been a lot more fun.

House was clearly superior, Braun was a sick twisted wretch of a man. I felt no pity leaving him alone and releasing those poor souls enslaved by him.

House is a genius who stopped around 70 warheads by himself. Braun on the other hand, is a little girl doing sadistic things in a virtual reality.

Braun was an evil scientist who tortured people to stop from getting bored but House is a genius trying to rebuild a country.

What's with all of the Braun hate? He created the G.E.C.K and was responsible for the vault experiment. House couldn't even hold on to the Platinum Chip.

Yeah, he's incredibly evil...but that's what I like about him. It is just a game afterall.

Yeah to be fair Braun was probably just a greater engineer or scientist as House, the thought of leaving him on his own for eternity without even the choice of killing himself strikes me wrong; I'm a pretty harsh fellow but that is the one thing I could never do to someone.

Who is better though... House for one of my favourite lines:

"Why do you hate the Brotherhood."

"Why? Because they're ridiculous."

The incredulity that anyone could see something good in them coupled with the, just the way he says it I don't know how to describe it.

I like House more than Braun. But you say favorite immortal character in Fallout? That opens up Ghouls and Super Mutants. In that case, it'd be a tie between Marcus, Raul, and Desmond.

You may find they are quite mortal, nevertheless, it may also open up Barnaky and Eden they are about as immortal as the rest.

That's still the only explanation that makes any sense to me, regardless of FO3. I think the next Fallout should return the GECK to that principle.

Braun is possible the only character in Fallout who nobody likes, which is pretty damn rare for any fanbase.

Yeah, they are technically mortal, but so are House and Braun. It's just that they won't die unless an outside force kills them, as far as we've seen.

I think it's partially because he's a grown man who wants to pretend to be a little girl... that's a little creepy. He also doesn't have the commanding personality and power that House has.

Yeah, but when you consider how just about everything in fiction has a fanbase for it no matter how small I find it surprising. Not that I am complaining at all.

You might find someone out there who likes him if you look hard enough, but I don't think he was designed to be very likable.

Well of course there will be a couple, but seeing how one-off characters in TV shows are somehow able to get a fan following of < 500 It's just surprising a guy who has so much potential for #shudder#, fan-fiction* doesn't seem to get much attention.

* Yes I am aware that I've written what might be considered to be Fanfiction in the form of the 'Coonskin Grenadiers', who are based in the whole general history of Fallout but they have little to nothing to do with the rest of the Fallout Universe in terms of existing characters/interacting with existing characters (I especially dislike Mary Sues and people who like to try and feebly conclude story arcs). If I become a writer I will make damn well sure that all loose ends will be tied up, even if I have to make a family tree for every character and wander around FanFiction.net and say to my insipid basemant dwelling fans, "NOT CANON, GTFO."

House couldn't even hold on to the Platinum Chip.

House was never in posession of the Platinum Chip, it was to be hand delivered to him at the Lucky 38 on October 23, 2077. The only reason House did not have the chip was because the War happened 20 hours short of his predictions.

@Karma- I agree, when I played Fallout and Fallout 2 (I got those after I played Fallout 3, the one thing obsessively driving me crazy is 'With all the tools to rebuild, what the hell did Project Purity do with the other components?'. It was claimed somewhere the seeds arent long lived, and yet, Vault City thrives with grass and trees, so apparantly it works still.

@Enclave- I see what happens to Braun as karma catching up to him for torturing those poor souls for 200 years. He finally got his just deserts. For a man who caused so much mental anguish, it's time he got a taste of his own medicine.

True, I dont want him to suffer eternally, just to sufffer a very long hell, bleak and empty. Let him see how it feels to be tortured. I think if I just unplugged him and shot him in the head, he'd be getting off easy.

Maybe they turned the seeds into a nice crunchy snack. You know, dry roast the peanuts, add some herbs, turn the corn into popcorn, make a pecan pie.

We may have ruined our chances for long-term survival but it sure was tasty *pats belly*

Still, that appears to be exactly what's happened. DC does make the perfect place to blame it on the politicians. I can see it all happening right now, some fat president walking around in front of the people. Tells them he has in fact found the GECK, but they shouldn't get their hopes up, it was just some paperwork and a few very tasty nuts he roasted over the fire he created by lighting the paper. Just imagine the BOS/Enclave troopers repeatedly banging their heads into the wall until their Power Armor helmets break.

Still, I think it was the Enclave that eventually used the GECK. Considering the fact that their well trained troops got their [censored] handed to them by a 19YO who's never seen a gun before, I'm not surprised.

Maybe the Chinese dropped a special bomb which permanently irradiated the ground, or de-fertilized it, like a sort of deep penetration dirt bomb.

Braun. He has the far better life extension pod. His mind is active yet his body is in stasis. It's possible if he were to get out he'd live. House on the other hand just continued to age and age and age. And than age some more.
