Brawl

Discuss away.
I thought it was going to be a boring idea before the game was release and think it's even more boring than I had figured at first. I go into a bar, or take a quest that says to clobber someone, and proceed to continuously hit the left mouse button...again...and again...and again...without myself taking very much dmg at all, so I don't really have to move around. Just my take on it though.

I like it. A couple people actually fight back pretty well and you have to block and mix it up. I wish you could do it more though instead of just scripted incidences.

You can cheat in it, by simply equiping healing spell in left hand and punching away with right hand. That's my only issue.

I haven't gone to 0 HP in a brawl, do we just get knocked-out or do we die..? I remember a daedric quest in obivion, where a guy was supposed to kill us and we'd be ressurrected. Well, sometimes we actually die-died and didn't get resurrected. :/

I agree with your comments on brawling, perhaps with some characters/races it is different but from my experience it is just a case of constantly clicking until he goes down while I still have full health.

It could certainly do with a bit of spicing up but I would class it as faily low priority right now.

I guess we wont be seeing a patch where the whole pub joins in hitting eachother with chairs, throwing bottles and people being thrown through windows. :hubbahubba:

Once you're high level enough with armor high enough blocking won't make a difference as the enemy will hit you for a whopping one damage! (I'm on expert, master might hit a bit harder but nothing that will put you in immediate danger) double that with the HP that your enemy will have at that level and all you'll have is clicking mouse button for a looooooooooooooooooong time. One upside to brawling is you can level up your armor skill easily

How are you blocking in a fist fight? Using a shield? Because AFAIK it's dealt with in the same way as Dual-wield, in that there is no way to block; which makes no sense as defence is an integral part of hand to hand combat.

I also dislike that they've failed to improve moves available in hand to hand in Oblivion, and have instead removed them in favour of mindless swinging and a forced and inaccurate swinging combination that anyone with more than a week of boxing training could laugh at.

I like the concept, just not the implementation.

It just takes too long is my problem. A two minute exchange of constant blows isn't exactly exciting. Occasionally I mix it up with dodging enemy attacks.

Play a mage ^^ I really have to dodge many of those punches if i don't want to "cheat" using potions or healing spells.

I wish brawls were more like they were in Witcher 2. Yes, they were a bit dance-dance-revolution, but still enjoyable.

Oh God no, those are the worst fights in any PC game ever..

Quick time events are bad because the player is ultimately not in full control, and are instead simply pressing prompts. All fights in Witcher 2 are just pretty quick time events. The fights in Witcher 1 were pretty lame, but even they are MUCH better.

I've got the same thing going as you. I'm on expert as well. Yesterday at around 12am, real time, I was doing some quest for the companions which had me brawling someone. I nearly fell asleep clicking the mouse button. I never thought about raising my armor skill that way for some reason though. Maybe I will have to try that to get those last few skill increases.

I like the brawling, though very time consuming, though after finding gloves that give 10% more brawling damage I got more happy :)

There should be a lot more of this! NPCs should fall out, argue and fight in taverns.

Ya the brawls are awesome. There needs to be more. I'm all for bethesda to make like a fight club type deal in DLC or maybe someone can make a mod for it. I love fist fighting people.

They should have made some Khajiit brawl opponents.

They're the only ones with the potential to actually deal some damage.

Until they add the ability to block, the fist fighting is basically won by whoever has the best armour on, it's pathetically implemented.

Mods plz kthnx.

order a couple rounds for everyone in the tavern then pay the bard to play something agressive :hubbahubba:, at least that is how i imagined it to be. they're still fun early on though.

I love how khajiits are masters of the barroom brawl and my high elf keeps getting KTFO. Its funny because she gets really drunk and just keeps getting in fights. I really helps with the role play of an alcoholic mage.

EDIT: I think someone had a question about losing and getting killed. You don't get killed you get knocked down and after a brief 10 second period you are up again getting beaten if you pick another fight. Seriously there is no way to win on masters as a mage unless you use something other than fists.

I like it, but I do find it odd that everyone I've taken on has said afterwards something like "I like you, you've been a good friend to me". Literally all I did was have one conversation and then beat them up. A few of them I challenged to a fight because I honestly thought they were dikes and wanted to punch them in the face. I think I'd prefer it if there was more dialogue afterwards. Something like where you could either shake their hand in a "fair play mate" kind of way, tell them to leave you alone from now on or say that whatever issue you had has been settled, or rub your victory in their face if you really don't like them.

Well we are in Skyrim after all.

Men are big, bulky and have beards, women are big , bulky and have beards, and friends beat each other up.

I like it but thought it would be a little more than what it was. Even for a brawl the amount of flailing and lack of refinement is impressive. I wasn't expecting strategy to be some kind of huge element in a tavern fist-fight but still ...

you have to block

You can't block in hand-to-hand. It's just like dual wielding. Though it makes no sense that you can't. Especially when people watching your brawls will shout, "That's not how you fight! Keep those hands up!"

Unless you're cheating and equipping a shield and just punching with one hand.
