Breakable Armour Mod?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:39 pm

A long time ago... I mean years ago, there was a mod that had armour break off in a fight sometimes if you or the AI was hit. It was pretty good.

Now I can`t find it. Does anyone remember it and have a link to it?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2164 combo, IIRC. But use the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Utilities.Detail&id=8 version (1.6) of MWE rather than that linked to from the Combat Enhanced page.

[Edit: Clarity (hopefully)]

I'm a little confused over this. I thought armor already breaks off in a fight if the condition drops to zero?
Why would you want it randomly to break off during the fight if it's not at zero?
That wouldn't make sense! Unless you or your opponent are using laser blades or something, and you're aiming at the joints of the armor.

You'd make armor utterly and completely useless, and even from a realism perspective, it doesn't make sense.
You hit someone in the chest, their boots aren't' going to fly off. :)
I don't care if you hit them with Stenddar's Hammer, that ain't going to happen. :)

So, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get it at all.
Can you explain it?

Yeah, Combat Enhanced combos:

Blunt Weapon > Disarm Shield > Knocks the opponent's shield out of their hand
Axe > Cleave > High damage attack that can knock off gauntlets, pauldrons, and helmets

Interesting. I don't see how any attack can logically knock your opponents armor pieces off, but eh, whatever.
Shield removal makes since. But unless you sever their arms , their shoulders, or their head, you shouldn't be able to knock pieces of armor off that's attached to a person. :)

And if you sever their head, well they die.

I never could understand the use of Combat Enhanced, and Deadly reflexes for Oblivion to be honest.
I don't know why, I just can't.

Thanks dragon32. I already have combat enhanced which is great, but that`s not it.

I think in the mod once the armour got to 0 it had a chance to fall off except for chest armour. But its not impossible in my mind that some light pieces of armour attached by simple straps (like shoulder and leg greaves) could weaken and be knocked off. Unstrapped helmets (like half hems) CAN be knocked away by a good blow even in real life without killing the opponent.

These mods suit warrior types, not wizards. I always play a warrior and never use spells except scrolls\amulets every now and then. now when you are 24\7 hacking at enemies it greats incredibly boring just pressing the mouse button and hack, hack, hack. It`s the same with axes, broad swords, daggers. CE makes you think a little more about fighting. Imagine you`re fighting a powerful Orc, he`s tougher than you you and winning. Your only chance is to try and do him major damage first, if you remember the attack move then you can embed your sword in his gut but you break your sword- hopefully you do enough damage to kill him, or maybe knock him a bit away from you or even chop his head off with the ax, etc, etc. Knocking a shield away is also very realistic, although many shields had arm straps making them harder to knock away depending.

Well you really are missing out then, because Deadly reflexes adds another level of brutal reality. You can`t do decapitations without it, you can`t chop hands off without it. You can get puncture wounds with arrows. To be honest, it`s a Mod for people who want to fight as bloodily as it would`ve been like taking a guy on with a sword in real life. Of course with all these things you need to build up skill and familiarity with the sword before you have a chance to use them, so its not a cheat.

Obviously, if you`re squeamish, then don`t get it, but that`s what`s great about Mods we can create our own personal game world that suits each individual and these combat mods suit me.

Anyway, that`s my take.
