Basic lore, for roleplaying

Read the books listed at the end of this article. They are in-depth and would do quite a bit to color your perception of Breton culture.

You could also play Daggerfall. That game is all about Highrock (and a huge chunk of Hammerfell, incidentally). You may find it helpful.
