Bretons are unnecessary?

While they're probably one of the least interesting races, removing them is [censored] dumb.

So how would you explain the elimination of an entire province worth of people? And who would you add to replace the Bretons?

A Cataclysm happened. They would also be replaced by Panderans, duh!

I will openly say if you put an Imperial male next to a Breton male, I will not know which race is which. Nords have their accents and are friggin' huge. I couldn't tell the difference in Morrowind, Oblivion, (untill I got used to the VA.), and Skyrim.

The names are the obvious giveaways. Imperials tend to sound Roman-ish (Reburrus Quintilius, Valga Vinicia), while Bretons sound French (Alain Dufont, Colette Marence). Reachmen, who are also Breton, have Gaelic sounding names (Madanach, Daighre).

All in all, Bretons should look like fine-featured, petite, pale-skinned, dark and red-haired Imperials. It's lore that Bretons have a noticeable, streamlining curve to their features. They look like Tolkien Elves except far less ethereal and tall, more homely and human.

Yea mane, Bretons is Celtic Warlocks. Charlie Sheen told me he has played as a Breton in TES games since Daggerfall.

Bretons are meant to be the French side. Or, at least, a Breton in the real world is someone from Brittany, the Northwest peninsula of France. I kind of drew the comparison to Tamrielic lore because Bretons tend to have names that sound quasi-French. (Jeanette, Colette, etc)

Although I do understand what you're getting at.. humans are humans.. but where does that leave Redguards?

uhh... lets just leave races alone before we get ourselves in trouble lol

UESP and all the concept art of them. Remember Oblivion's picture of a male Breton? He has long nails, curved brow, and chiseled face. I admit that the Tolkien comment was a bit overboard, but Bretons are pale-skinned, petite, and gentle-featured in comparison to Nords and Imperials. They're the Western Europeans of Tamriel.

T'was mostly the Tolkien elf thing I was objecting to. I don't really see anything in the lore that says Bretons are exclusively that way, though. The first PGE's version of the Bretons has a http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/pge01_highrock_art_01.jpg alongside the smoother look of the 3rd PGE. In Daggerfall they look kind of like 90s models with plastic surgery (but then again everyone in Daggerfall looked like that). The thing with Bretons is that they're a really mixed peoples, so I don't think its accurate to give them one single look. The Reachmen are different from the Bretons of the Iliac bay, who are different from the Bretons of the northern coast.
