A brief question about switching items/spells/abilities

Post » Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:10 pm

So after re-watching the three parts of the Skyrim demo videos, I noticed something.

At times, Todd switches instantly from one spell to another without going through the favorites menu. I thought since the D-Pad is being used for said menus, we don't have hotkeys on the controller anymore? So I was wondering, will it still be possible to switch weapons/items/spells on the fly, rather than slowly picking them through your favorites menu?

The best example I could find if this is found in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7WohnlLEQo&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fresults%3Fsearch_query%3DSkyrim%2Bdemo%2Bpart%2B2%26aq%3Df video, around 3:05 in. He switches from Flames in left hand, to an electric spell in left, to electric in both. He also manages (in the third demo, during the fight with the frost dragon) to switch from Storm Call to Dragonbreath without a menu as well.

If this has been brought up before, and/or confirmed/denied, please tell me. I tried the search option, but I'm not a very good searcher. >.>

And this is a question based off console gaming. I know PC has numbers for hotkeyes, I'm curious about this for consoles.

~Cheers!

I'm almost totally sure that they just edited that part out. He really did pull up the favorites screen, but since that pauses the game, they just clipped it out. That should answer the question.

If that's the truth, then it's kinda disappointing having to enter a menu everytime you need to swap stuff. But just a small thing to get over really. Thanks.

I have no doubt that if Bethesda really did that (which seems all too likely at this point) then modders will address the issue.

You might be right. I imagine a lot of people will complain about this after playing the game for a while, but just dont let it bother you.

And like SkyRanger says, you can mod a solution (unless your on xbox :sadvaultboy: )

As I stated in the OP, I'm playing this on console. Mods aren't a choice for me. Plus PC's have the number keys I'm sure they can use for hotkeys.
