Bright Followers in Fallout 4?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:21 pm

I know this is going to sound crazy, but hear me out. I have always thought we would see at least those crashed REPCONN rockets in the next fallout game. It would act as a link between the games, like ED-E was from the CW, from the prior fallout game(his history anyway). If you watch the FO4 trailer, the baby's room is decorated in rockets and you have the baby's mobile rockets that look exactly like the rockets found at REPCONN. The PC's baby doesn't die, he is the reason the Bright Followers are taking their "Great Journey" to a place of "healing." and safety. I remember hearing of a place in FO4 that is very radiated that no one goes and is the source of the radiation storms we will see in the game. This is where the Bright Followers are heading. You heard it here first folks.

They must still be near New Vegas. In one of the endings they return and help Novac if I remember right.

They weren't refering to an irradiated pit in Boston. Their promised land, is likely not on Earth. They do however, return to save Novac in several end slides.

Doubt we see them, maaaybe we hear NPC talk about them in filler dialog, firing of space rockets would be news that could spread in the wasteland, but see them, doubtful.

So they need space suites and rockets to travel a short distance and after their "great journey" to leave the place that was giving them trouble they return to help. That make sense. And if it isnt on Earth, where would you suggest? If they need space suites, what planet do you think their going?

I wouldn't mind having a Bright Follower turn up as a random encounter. I really enjoyed them as a group - even my "evil" characters ultimately end up helping them because they're so likable.

Even if we don't actually see the bright followers in 4, I still think we will be a reference to them from the PC's baby. Plus, we don't know if all of them return to novac, there were 3 rockets. Maybe thats why we have some returning.Doesn't say Jason returns.

They wouldn't travel to a planet, it would take years! They would never be able to return. However... The moon would almost certainly be a prime candidate, it's close, it has no atmosphere, allowing all the space radiation to beam down on the ghouls, and there might even be an abandoned moon base. But who knows? They could have just orbited the whole time, and saw what was happening to the town they disrupted, and then went down to help. Most cults just end with a poisoned punch bowl, barely none get abducted into space, or go to the promised land, as they claim. But we don't know what happened, and where they went after the rockets launched.

The Bright Following didn't really seem like your typical cult. For starters, Jason didn't actually seem to be building a legend of personality around him - he seems genuinely concerned about his people. Even that one Ghoul remarks it's better for them to stick in large groups.

I always figured they all died when you sent them out. I mean maybe they were saved by Science! But I always saw their launch as a Heavens Gate moment. Maybe it was just me.

Ghouls die, they need air, food. They can do nothing on the moon. Plenty of"healing" radiation here in the wasteland. Have you seen the trailer? The baby's room is rockets. Before the war, 3 on the mobile, after, just one. Bethesda is hinting at this. Do you think the baby dies in the nuclear blast wave, no he doesn't. No way.

They wanted to leave Earth because of the all the abuse they got from humans, and other mutants. You think they can't bring some Fancy Lad Cakes, and a few spaceships full of air? Do you even know there are people orbiting Earth in a satellite right now? It is a cult, the only one who knew what they were truly doing was Jason, and all Jason told us was mumbo jumbo. He could have known or guessed that anything could be out there around Earth

Exactly, he didnt say anything about his destination. If he was going into space, why didn't he just tell us? They are going somewhere to "heal", cant really heal if your dead in space. Give Jason some credit.

I wasnt' going to post this because it may be a little far fetched but WTF...I think what I claim in this thread and the fact you have Marie Ashur from the Pitt, who is the cure for TDC (which is nothing but a variant of feral ghoul), we will see a cure for ghouls and I believe you will be able to cure your son after all his life spent as a ghoul. I think it will be one bigger quest in the game and this cure will be rare, expensive and have consequences. I think this is why Beth lets the baby look like the offspring off his parents. It wouldnt really matter if the child remains a child or a ghoul.

God. Please. No.

A cure for being turned into a ghoul would be the death knell of the series.

Honestly, would a Ghoul want to be cured?

Immune to radiation and functionally immortal. Sure, you look like a skinless cadaver and are ostracized from most major communities, and there's always the chance you'll lose your wits and go feral, but overall? It's not all that bad a deal.

What did skin ever do for us anyway? Other than make us look alive, and cool.

I'm not saying there should be an all around general cure for ghouls, I think it should be very rare and hard process. They are already hinting at it with Marie Ashur anyway. Plus Typhon from Fallout 2 tells you he grew up mutated, so we know children age as ghouls.

The ending slide seems to confirm that they...didn't get as far as they would have liked

Ghouls are just ripe for religious fanaticism, so I'm sure there'll be an equivalent.

Jason Bright even has a rare mutation in which he never turns feral, maybe he will be part of this cure in some way.
