Brightnessgamma changes in morrowind

Hello all,

I am having a big problem with morrowind as of late. I hadn't played in a long time and decided to play through again. Since my last play, I've added mods and upgraded my computer a lot including memory, graphics cards, cpu, etc. I am still running it on Win xp 32-bit though, which I use for older programs.

The problem I am having is sometimes when reloading a save file, or moving from one location to another and there is a load screen, my brightness decreases some. Reloading a save after this will progressively do this again until I can no longer see after reloading enough times. It is very very frustrating as my physical gamma bar in the game has not moved any, and the ini file has no location for gamma settings. Somehow, I feel as if some shaders are being incorrectly applied each time the game loads a new area. What is odd is it does not happen every time I start morrowind, but once it starts changing the brightness, I can't revert back without closing morrowind and reopening it. Even then, if I saved the game with the brightness having dropped and reload that game, it will have the lower brightness as will any other saves I load afterwards. However, if I load a game with a good brightness first, I can continue playing until the brightness bug occurs again.

current retro comp setup:
win-xp 32-bit boot first hard drive (I have 3 hard drives each with a different version of windows)
Q6600 CPU
6GB DDR2 Memory
2 Ti550 Nvidia cards in SLI (I have force morrowind to run on a single card during play)
display: 37" LG HDTV

I'd appreciate any help. It really is a game killer. I am suspecting a certain mod, but I haven't figured out how this house mod could mess up my game like it does, as I have no graphics mods installed, just house mods and some other area mods.
