Bring back the Morrowind weapons...LIKE SPEARS!

Post » Sat Aug 28, 2010 1:56 am

Is it me ,or am i the only one that saw a spear/spear type weapon in the trailer?
I believe it's a spear type weapon....it'the scene where he's charging a spell with undead infront of him,one of them points an axe at him,and the one on the right to him
(to me at least ) looks like he has a spear type weapon.

*Edit* Pause the trailer at 1:43 to see what i mean.

Unless it was a user-created mod, no there wasn't.

Why would anyone want to swing a spear? A mace hurts more. Or a sword. Can't shoot a fireball from a sword, though.

Because getting stabbed by an 8 inch long tong of sharpened iron doesn't hurt.

I'd rather that they bring back throwing knives and throwing stars.

Would they be 2 or 1 handed or both, I mean pole arms like the Naginata were used two handedly and then you've got the Hasta which was used by romans with a sheild, other Spears were trown. The naginata might be a hard one to put in as it is primarily a slashing weapon as opposed to a thrusting/piercing.

Spears would be kinda nice. But I wouldn't start crying non-stop if they aren't in on the 11/11/11.

But seriously, spears do make sense. Because:

1) They are a different kind of weapon-style, which is always good. It makes combat even more interesting and unique. Spears also look pretty cool.

2) They are in the lore.

3) They are specifically relevant for Skyrim, which is influenced by Nordic culture. Spears have been used in the Nordic territory in our world for a long long time. Spears is one of oldest weapons in the history of our world. Hundreds of thousands of years old. Our ancestors used spears to hunt down mammoths. Skyrim is an ancient land. The Father Land they call it. So I don't really see why spears wouldn't be perfect for this place.

Spears are phallic.
Freud would have something to say about all these people obsessing about them.

He would say we all have fantasies of Sultry Argonian cleaning ladies.

I Checked. Looks like a 2 handed axe (viewed at a sharp angle), sadly

Many mods already have these. They are really easy to implement by replacing a claymore with a "slashing spear" skin

They're also boring as hell to use, due to them being more of the same boring slash attack

OH thats a pity about spears but no biggie. I guess no spears means no similar sized pole arms. Would be nice to have polearms, as you could choose wether to slash with the head, or pierce with the spike on top!
