Bringing Ancient Egypt To Morrowind!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:56 am

I'm a noob here I know. But all the same.

I really do enjoy the idea. I believe this will work. I'm not sure I can be of too much help though. But I volunteer for whatever I can do and is needed.

Do you guys have an Egyptian race? I might be able to do that.

Also, I'm not going to read every post, but this is how I feel.

You should have gods. Like flying enemy's that will be in their tombs. And you know the coffin deal.
The quest should directly involve you with the Pharaoh.

Just some ideas. Tell me if I can help in any way.

I'd even do lame work like music.

If that's what it takes :)
I can tell a story pretty good :)

I could even try to translate it into Egyptian.

But I do feel this is a good idea and would like to help in any way possible.

this is the site ive always used for my Hieroglyphic needs. becuase it contains not only the single letters but also the Biliteral glyphs,Triliteral glyphs and the Determinative glyphs and the numbers. im not sure who greywolf is from the site you got the hieroglyphics from but his interpratation is quite confusing to me from what i have already learned

http://www.egyptartsite.com/glyph.html#a

for instance he uses a set of scribes tools reversed for the letter D which i was taught was the Determinative glyph to write ive always seen the sideview of a hand for the letter D
his letter L is actually the biliteral KA

while this may seem like i am getting nitpicky im mearly pointout out that it is like asking someone to write a report for school but instead of using the alphabet that you know your given a chart where all the letters have been mixed up or new ones invented and stuck into their place

another reason i use this site is it is also the same chart which is used for 99 percent of the actual translators out there which makes the job alot easier the translator i use i can type up to 16 letters in and it will translate it automatically for me hoewver it wont use the biliterals or triliterals or determinitives

i wont go into alot of detail about how writing from right to left differs from left to right or up and down and the whole symmetry issue but
ive been studing things related to ancient egypt since my childhood.
yeah i was an odd child while most kids would ask for toys for their birthday or christmas i asked for the 19th edition of the handbook of chem and physics or a subscription of national Geographic while most kids had posters on their walls of stars they liked or animals i had the solar system and a cronological time line of plant and animal evolution of the planet
my senior year i acutally learned braile just so i could write my report on gandi that my teacher could read instead of having his aid read it to him

and if you have read enough of my posts its quite evident that i slept threw most of my english classes

well thats my 2 cents on the Hieroglyphic issue

Hellz yeah

I love ancient egypt.

Make sure you have Jackals scavenging around tomb sites at dusk, that would be awesome.

(And credit me for this idea too :P )

Being that no one else has done so, I'll do it myself.

This project isn't off, if anyone thinks so. It's just that our team leader, silver_fox_rival is being denied any computer access, and so it's saddening. However, I did speak to her a bit a go, and she should be getting a laptop sooner or later. So cross your fingers.

Here's a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11589 resource. Nothing in there is from OB. As the readme says

So, if you can downgrade the meshes to the correct .nif version, you are set to go. :)

Those are muslim buildings, no ancient egyptians..... And I guess I know pretty much things of the lore ^^

You guys should check out MJY's Roman/Egyptian mega mod/modder's resource from a few years ago for inspiration.

To all who have been watching this WIP thread for the longest since it was started I have a little announcement to make:

THE MOD IS STILL ON! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It is going to take me a loong while before I can start working on this again but, as it is in current state I would like to say that:

All of modding I have been doing has been looked up as being not up to par or labeled "ok". Tell you this much, I will say that I am sorry for outbursting the way I did, but I am not sorry to those who have caused me such grief in the past 4 yrs when it comes to my creativity and skills as a modder. I will continue to mod not to become a legend but for fun because I love to do it. So if you have a problem with the way I do things in my own way and tastes then your gonna have to bite it, cuz I know I can do this and am d*** good at it. You'll have to excuse my language fellow moderators as I mean no harm to these forums or any of the other forums here.

That's the best way to do it :). Make what you want, when you want.

I didn't ask why you modded but I imagine it is for the same reason that I do - for pleasure. I just wondered what inspired you, personally, to choose Ancient Egypt. One of many fascinating cultures of the world and one of my favourite.

Tbh, I did it because I wanted to see Ancient Egypt in game in all it's glory. Plus I have an affinity, if you will, with Ancient Egypt as well.

This what I have been working on as of late:

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee122/silver_fox_rival/Blender%20Stuff/HorusTemple2.png

I was playing around with the textures on the "Eye of Horus" that is right on the lesser temple of Horus' Archway

Some more shots of Horus' lesser temple:

I have two statues in the works as right now that I have to do some extensive work on to get it "just right". I will soon be posting the whole temple setup later on

Cool looking models for sure silver! You really need to buy a new copy of Morrowind! It's hard to visualize how these are going to look in game.

More of Horus' Statue update:

All I need to do is make Horus' Falcon Mask and that statue will be complete. Then I will post the temple at last.
