Bringing Ancient Egypt To Morrowind!

That sounds excellent for the TC mod's opening scene! In fact can you write more of these? If all of them are as good as these we can create cutscenes for each part to place. The main hero (PC) will be the one to place each piece of the missing puzzle together so that he/she can finally find peace between all of the realms. The realms that are fantasy like are really parallel worlds that have separated from each piece of history ever since the gods' conflict. Yes now I'm starting to get a clear view of things...

I will be happy to help. Will start fleshing out on the allready written, and if you want me to write somthing more, just point me in the right direction.

Maybe you can ask Tommy Khajit or Kateri for egiptian stuff. Glory Road 2 has a lot of these :) but it never will be released

Guess where the body of that statue comes from?! :biglaugh: You can make the pose in makehuman, export them as .obj, then import them into blender, customize them and export it as .nif again. If I had to model all the poses manually, it would take me about 10 years to get it done! :banghead:

@Dagoth Murdock:

I'll have a look at those models, thx!!!

Some resources that maybe of use:
TextureFreak's re-textured Hlaalu buildings: http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=54 and http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=59
http://www.dannythorpe.com/proudfoot/ladye_mw/buildings.shtml

I'm sure that there'll be more things in MightyJoeYoung's resource packs. Unfortunately they're atrociously packed with no real theme. I guess one would have to look through them all...

Quick shufti:
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2976 has a sphinx and Tutankhamen's burial mask.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2928 a palm tree.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2942 a pyramid, the sphinx and mask (again), that Anubis statue.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2869 has meshes for a desert in an interior-as-exterior cell.
Pack 11 has some hair for Egyptian women, can't find a link at the moment

A number have Greek / Roman architecture and other statics in that maybe worth a look.

I doubt I'd be much help - I rarely released mods and haven't done much of anything for a long time - but I make a decent "details" guy, fleshing out places with that little extra back story and uniqueness, and creating little quest stories to keep the player busy. Unfortunately my coding skills have taken 50 steps backwards over the last couple of years, so actually writing in the quests takes me ages now. Still, if you want someone to add that little extra detail to the project when its nearing release then send me a PM.

Sweet. I'll need to keep up with progress so I can get a few storyboard ideas going. I'll have plenty of free time after next month, so I'll freshen up my quest scripting skills too so I'm ready.

There's some interesting desert architecture in the TC "Arktwend", if you guys haven't seen that. Unfortunately, it's somewhat underdeveloped, but it still looks kind of neat for desert settlements and fortresses. If you play the TC, you can "coc Almasanoar" and go south from there. Here are some lousy screenshots I made:

I MAY be wrong but I believe those cities were made using the stock meshes from Morrowind. Expertly done to say the least but I still believe they are stock Bethesda.

Still they could be a great idea for cliff dwelling Egyptians (if there ever was such a thing)

I suspect you're correct. I was mostly just wanting to let folks know about this neat TC, and perhaps give some inspiration for some desert type architecture. The TC is a bit "unfinished" in parts, and sadly the desert part is not all fleshed out. Most of the doors in these place don't work, and the interiors are bare. But I still thought that they did a pretty nice looking job on the desert and the settlements.

Has anyone done a ridable camel yet?:)

Yap, SureAI did a great job on Arktwend, I now the mod for some time, cause I'm german. We may also use retextured original models, but I could do much better ones in blender myself. It's just a matter of time and how many people we can gather for this mod.

Here are the real pics of the REAL Anubis and the REAL Horus!!!!

Then decide to make sure that you like them.

http://www.chrisnye.net/images/Anubis.jpg
THE REAL ANUBIS in all of his glory!

http://www.kenseamedia.com/egyptian_gods/images/osiris_isis_horus.jpg
THE REAL HORUS in all of his glory!

To me you guys this is not a game as I hold them in the highest light. I do not like the main fact that any of you would even consider the fact that playing around with it cool either. To me this is very sacred and I find this a true honor to be able to bring the likeness of Ancient Egypt inside Morrowind. So here's what I'm trying to say without going off of my rocker...

Plz TDW before making anymore statues of Egyptian Gods, can you plz let me know so that I can get you some good pics of them so that you may do it EXACTLY like how the pic show it?! Also can you plz use the gold cooridinates that I gave you over at GHF? Or better yet just mesh 'em and I'll texture 'em email me the blend files that you make so I can have my try at them. As long as you mesh 'em I'll texture 'em. If that sounds like a deal then let's do it that way PLZ!!! The Egyptian Gods I hold a strong connection to them and I really do not want anyone to make it seem like it's all jokes or something. Anubis IS a HUMAN with a JACKAL HEADRESS on. Horus is a HUMAN with a FALCON HEADRESS on. Just like the rest of the Ancient Kemetian Neteru of those times. I don't want to sound mean or nasty just want to let you know exactly how important this making this mod really is to me.

EDIT: All that needs to be done is take off the tail off of Anubis and Re-mesh Horus' Headress to look like that of a Real Falcon. That's all. We'll talk about the gold texture later.

Can't believe you discuss my work that way in public first, instead of dropping me a PM!!! :ooo:

But if it is going this way, here's what I have to say:

I can take off the tail of anubis, if he originally had none, no problem, but I definately won't copy any statue as it was made by another artist before, because nothing is more boring than that. I look at other artists artworks to get some inspiration, but that's all.

For me the most important thing is having fun while modding and I can only have fun, when I'm free to to do it my way!!!

Don't worry about it DW...

silver's a perfectionist, as she said to me. She likes everything in her mod to be juuuust right. :) Don't get offended pleaze...she was just a little angry that you didn't read some lore before attempting a statue.

This is a heavily lore mod...just take a look at wikipedia for a while....we all have to. :)

But the thing is that if you read up on Egyptian religion there's no mention (that I've seen at least) of Horus really being "a HUMAN with a FALCON HEADRESS" so it seems that silver_fox_rival has a very idiosyncratic view on this. Also, calling one visual representation of Horus the "REAL ANUBIS" also seems way off as there are several different ways of depicting him. He can be depicted as a Falcon with talons and all - and I highly doubt that this "really" was a Falcon suit. I'd guess that the ancient Egyptians were quite aware that the representations of the gods were symbolic and not realistic. After all, they were masters of symbolism.

Make sure you have a nile like river where the banks are irrigated for farming. If you've ever played pharoh you'll see what i mean (it's also a great game to get ideas for buildings).

That griffon canyon is very difficult to make out the shape. The texturing overwhelms any structural shape.
If you are interested, I have a program that can take a heightmap, make it even better, and produce a texture for it. I brought it for a previous failed project, but have now used it for my Daedric realms mod.

Ok as far as having fun in making this mod a reality, has always been top notch priority in my book. Ok let me put it where all of you can try and understand it from the point of view that I'm seeing it from:

How would like it if you were making a mod that you directly ARE a descendant from, and someone comes along and tries making it a way where your ancestors look like how they are not suppose to be. How would that make you feel? I would feel very hurt and taken some offense to it because that is FAMILY.

Back on topic.
