Bringing Ancient Egypt To Morrowind!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:47 pm

This is an call to all modders!

How many of you would like to have an ancient civilization brought back to life in Morrowind? There are so many things that could be re-created/re-enacted just like in those ancient times. So far I've gotten a few pictures that could be used to re-create Ancient Egypt the way it was back then.

I'm re-creating this right now

It's kinda hard to really get a good close up of everything because it will clip a lot off, so I had to take it from afar ppl. :frown: But it came out excellent!

So what do ya ppl shall we do a complete Morrowind Makeover Egyptian style?

We need:

3 or Landscape artists (URGENT! THESE ARE NEED FIRST!)
3 or more Interior Cell Artists (URGENT! THESE ARE NEED FIRST!)
2 Master scripters
3 or more Questors
1 sounds artist
5 or more Voice actors
10 or more Modelers
4 or more Dialogue writers
4 or more Clothing artists
8 Texture/Re-texture artists
3 or more creature artists
2 animators
Egyptian lore specialist
5 or more Spell Making Specialists (silver_fox_rival happens to one of them  )
10 or more city making artists
2 Icon makers (silver_fox_rival is one of them  )
3 Weapon Smiths
2 ppl to make all of the Factions for this mod
5 or more Beta-Testers

If anyone is proficient in these skills plz post and then we can see how many ppl are going to help out in this huge project!

Here is the original thread for more info on this epic mod: http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1048&st=0&sk=a&sd=a&start=25

I know that most TCs wind up being vaporware, but we're trying hard to make sure this one isn't. If you're interested in lending a hand, please let us know. B)

Hi guys,

I'm a member of this WIP too and I promise you, we'll make this totally awesome. I will start these days with raising the landmass. It will be one big main island and several small ones, which will give other modders the opportunity to do the?r own thing.

This mod won't be an exact historical copy of ancient egypt, but we will use it's outstanding unique style of architecture and revive some of it's lost magic again. There'll be two worlds which the player can switch between at certain mystic places. The one, the normal world with human or humanlike people and the other one fantastic and weird. With new beast races, plants, sound effects, animations and much more.

As I'm known to be a modding maniac, you can watch out for screens, they'll be comming soon!!! :D

PS: My call goes out to any modders, who are tired of modding small stuff all the time. Here is your chance to be part of something BIG. And instead of making another 10.000 swords, armors and retextures which become downloaded, played and forgotten again, you can help to make this WIP something which is talked about.

So get your ...off the chair and sign in, NOW!!! :gun: :bolt:

Greets, TheDaywalker!!!

That's exactly right, Jac. And I have my hand in the weapons and building construction. Silver_Fox_Rival is a great person to work with and has great ideas as well as skills to boot. So I encourage one and all to join in on a TC that will take us back to the land of history, power, prestige, and exotic wonder.

How many resources should we work with?

I could check in my 2 best (only things I'm good at anyway) skills, landscaping, and city making artist. In fact I think I already have some sand/Egyptian style sketches for my lost forgotten TC. The problem is I don't have a working scanner :banghead:
Tho I couldn't take too large files, as I work on friend's laptop and he doesn't want me to stock up large files on it.

Also, I have permission to use Tygirwulf's Egyptian Velothi texture pack, so maybe it is of some use to you?

Link me so I can take a look at them. Also I would say welcome to the team! I make a lot of my own textures, I can mesh them and use real life images or create them from scratch. Right now I creating outside models with Blender along with TheDaywalker. He is raising land mass so that each of the landscaping artists can start working on it. It shouldn't be much of a problem. I have one question though? Would you prefer working on the small islands or the Mainland. The reason why I ask is because many ppl sometimes like to work on their own and it won't seem like only they are doing all of the work. The mainland will be very big of course. The Egyptian Nile would be the best point to start from. It's totally up to you tho. Let me know what you think about it. To answer your question on how many recources we plan on working with: For now that will be unknown because of the fact we'll be making a lot the things from scratch.

Here's a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11589 resource. Nothing in there is from OB. As the readme says
None of the models or textures included are copyrighted by other companies, games or individuals. All resources are royaly free from the internet and have mostly been heavily modified to suit my needs.

So, if you can downgrade the meshes to the correct .nif version, you are set to go. :)
These resources are free for you to use/modify and distribute as you wish. All I ask for are credits in your mod. It's enough to mention me as "Original models and Texturing by Darkness Eternal" ...or something like that ;)

Now I'm off to try to sleep, but I'll post screenshots in the morning.

It really doesn't matter, if there is any progress made on mainland I'm willing to add on to it, tho I am good with small island as well. Sooo, I'll take what you guys think is more needed.. :)

This will be one whole mesh static so every will come together and as separate pieces so that each piece can be put together as a whole like in the Mournhold part of the game (Haven't played in a while lol)

As much as I'd love to join and help with a TC, I'm much too busy improving the existing game and world, but this looks great!

Keep up the good work. -SWG

This sounds like an absolutely wonderful mod idea! I can't wait to see how this turns out!

I'm sure you guys have gone over all the available resources but I just wanted to let you know that Mighty Joe Young's City of Atlantis resource has some meshes you may be interested in (especially the interiors but maybe a few exteriors as well)

I'm sorry I can't really help with this mod, I just lack the time to do really anything, especially since I joined TR not long ago...

Good Luck! :goodjob:

These are the textures fro Tygirwulf's Egyptian Velothi texture pack:

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/Chakich/EgyptVeloth_inside.jpg
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/Chakich/EgyptVeloth_outside.jpg

That good?

Of course, it looks much much better in game, these are picks she left as example.

Oh, and, I guess I could also suggest myself as a voice actor for some character that talks weird english :P Hehe, I mean, I only write english, so I guess I sound bad talking it (as it's not my mother tongue).

Yeah I remember seeing this before. That would work wonders. I got some textures that could work wonders for it as well. So we'll use both mine and the author of the that mod as well. Oh and that will be perfect as well about the voice acting.

This sound really interesting, I am no modder so sorry cant help you out there. But i am curious, have you made up a explanation on how this place came to be in Morrowind ? Otherwise I would be happy too try making sort of a background history for you, should you be interested ?

That's simple: ancient dunmers were Egyptians :grad: . That aside, I think this is a total conversion (Jac implies this in HIS post), so there is no need for a MW connection. Correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: wrong gender....oops

For real? Huh, I always had that image of you... Maybe because I found out about you through Jasmine (who is a female) and I just connected the two.... Well sorry about that, I'll correct my post.

Yes, this is going to be a total conversion and won't have much, if any connection with Morrowind's story or lore. Oh, and thanks for the correction. B)

OT: I made Jasmine a female because I didn't want a male companion following me around. :D

Since this is a TC mod it won't have anything to do with Morrowind. So yes you can make up a starting scene and then post it so that I can see how you take it. But make sure that you implement at least SOME of ancient Egyptian stories into it.
