Brink in 1080p?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:18 am

I'm getting a new television in place of my old 10 year old monster one, and I'm wondering if Brink will take advantage of HDTV resolution, or stick with 720p.

I haven't heard anything on that, but most likely. Its a new release and looks beautiful so far; I would be surprised if it didn't take advantage of 1080p.

As for me; my TV is only 26" so 1080 and 720p look exactly the same.

720p and 1080p with the type of rendering they are doing is going to be slight difference anyway.

Just make sure you get something LARGE....lol. It's fun to surround yourself with view so that you feel like you are there instead of squinting to see things in the background.

Pretty sure an overwhelming majority of games are made for 720 p.... Don't think I've heard any rendered in higher resolution.

Yeah it's a little unfortunate, it's the biggest TV that could fit in the unit in my bedroom :|

But at the same time it's better than the 10 year old glass screen 20-inch I used to have. And It will literally be 4 feet away from my face, so... No squinting required.

That's interesting. Generally, you can't notice the difference b/t 720 and 1080 until 37 inches or so.

Its because of how many pixels it takes to stretch the image throughout the entire screen. Smaller = easier, therefore 720 and 1080 on a small TV are hard to distinguish from eachother.

Exactly. I made sure to have 1080p just incase it makes a difference. Additionally, it has a game mode that creates less lag and motion blur for fast paced gameplay. Works flawlessley.

720p is still considered HD if you didn't know.

As for your question, I doubt it will for consoles considering how rare it is. However, I certainly wouldn't object to it if they did.

Also, how large are you planning on purchasing? Because 1080p doesn't really become noticeable until around 32-37+.

Your current one, or the one you're planning to buy? Or both?

Also, game mode is pretty standard on HD TVs now - (almost) all of the ones I deal with at work have it. And if you haven't decided on one yet, I could give you a few suggestions if you'd like.

For under $1,100, my choice for a current-gen TV (current-gen just started about a month ago, so 2010 models are still available for dirt cheap as stores try to get rid of them) would be Panasonic's http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Viera-S30-Series-Plasma-HDTV/model.TC-P46S30_11002_7000000000000005702 unless you can find a store willing to sell the http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Viera-ST30-Series-Plasma-Full-HD-3D-HDTV/model.TC-P46ST30_11002_7000000000000005702 for $1,100. Panasonic makes the best plasma TV's (an undisputed fact ever since they got hold of Pioneer's tech, the previous top brand) with extremely vibrant colors, a massive contrast ratio thanks to the deep black levels their TV's offer, and (in my experience) excellent customer service. As a result, I've become a bit of a Panasonic f-a-n-b-o-y, especially because of the experience I've had with my own http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/VIERA-G25-Series-Plasma-1080p-HDTVs/model.TC-P42G25_11002_7000000000000005702.

My second choice for current-gen would be Samsung's http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN46D6000SFXZA, though you may have to shop around to get it for $1,100. In my opinion Samsung makes the best LED TV's, not to mention they're a pretty solid company all around.
