"Satchel Charges are remote control bombs plantable on any flat surface. You can place up to 3 and detonate them simultaneously by pressing RB (with the ability selected), or individually by interacting with them from a distance. Enemy fire can destroy them, so try not to plant them in obvious places"

Sounds like stickybombs from TF2, just hand-placed. I'd love to see the trap possibilites.

You should probably mention that you can also detonate them individually, which I think is awesome. :D

Its.. Beautiful. :woot:

Although satchel charges/C4 tend to be found in every shooter, nowadays, so its appearance isn't much of a surprise.

Still neat though.

The ability to detonate them simultaneously or individually is great. The trap and defensive possibilities is great. Everyday when they show off a new skill I want to play that class and then the next day I wan to play that class. The inclusion of an item/skill like this is expected but it is always a crowd pleaser.

Very cool.

I approve.

I'll probably get blown up by these occasionally...

EDIT: At least it's a level 5 ability, so only the dedicated Soldier-class players will be using it

The more I see these abilities the more I'm thinking I might prefer to be a soldier over an engineer. Just have to wait and see which I like better

Perhaps you can detonate them by staring at them and hitting the "interact" button. No, I'm not being sarcastic, it could actually work like that. Just aim at them and press use.

And since they can be blown up by enemy gunfire, I assume that your explosion would explode your friend's explosive as well. With FF on, anyway.

Or above you.

Most gamers don't look up. It's a sad sad fact. One I plan on exploiting so much, everyone who has ever played against me will be permanently staring up.

Fixed. :D

Engineers have mines, which will likely be similar.

I think the main difference here is that we are seeing a lot of abilities we recognize just tweaked ever so slightly(or not so slightly in some cases) to make them applicable for tactical play. Like take this C4 or Satchel Charge for example. Its been in almost every shooter since the WW2 era setting but here we find it with a couple little twists that add so much to its depth. You can place three of these charges all around the map(I would assume they disappear when/if you die) and either detonate them all remotely without the need to have line of sight(The minimum requirement I would think to "interact") or you can detonate each individually in the best scenario as long as you have line or sight or as stated above: aim at the charges.

Its also possible for an enemy to shoot to destroy these charges which could act as a sort of alarm system.

Another difference I don't think anyone has mentioned is that, since abilities use Supplies in Brink, if Satchel Charges work anything like grenades, they will recharge, so you can keep using them.
