Brink Ability Preview: The Medic's Lazarus Grenade

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:36 pm

If you take this ability as a Medic, make sure to tell your teammates to try to die in large groups if they have to die at all. Would be non-excellent if you just get like two guys at once. Of course, there's also the fact that you can toss it for long-distance revives, meaning that you can revive-snipe without giving away your position.

The Lazarus Grenade is an experimental pharmaceutical aerosol bomb, letting you Revive all Incapacitated teammates within its healing cloud. There is a Cooldown period between successive uses.

I am Napalm, and I approve of this godly invention.
Even though I'm not going to use it. ;)

or maybe you can drop it near a group of defenders, and it has a effect time, maybe a few min? and they can be revived after you gone :)

That would just be cheap and overpowered.

Hey reviving 2 guys at once is still better then reviving one and you both dying. If they both got revived at the exact same time and you where there as well you could make a push for an objective. This is not only effective if you revive a group of 5 can be usefull in other situations as well.

Ex. Your defending a plant you armed and it has 15sec left everyone is down besides you and you see 2 teammate on the ground you throw this and the 3 of you make a push defending the plant long enough to move onto the next objective.

Also like you said it gives you the ability to revive from further distances which is nice.

Love the ability.

Here's a weird question, though: You know the Grenade Shooting ability? What would happen if you shot a Laz Nade in midair?

Deep stuff.....

Not to mention that it probably takes one supply pip instead of two for two revive syringes.

I got something even deeper for you what happens if enemies are in the mist when they grenade explodes? Does it drain there health with some kind of DoT or do nothing. Can it possibly accidentally backfire and revive enemies?

EDIT: just thought of an amazing ability for Medics. What if they gave Medics an ability which when they finished off enemies it set the spawn timer to max waiting time. It would be some sort of syringe Medics finished enemies off with what was like a chemical to drag along there death taking them longer to spawn in. So incapacitated enemies finished off by medics would have to wait the max respawn time of 20sec. What you guys think?

This could be a very strategic ability. Do I finish off this guy right now or wait and let the Medic do it risking him getting revived or bleeding himself out. Would add a little more depth

I think the whole team spawns in 20 second waves so it would defeat the point if one person had a different spawn time from everyone else. It could make them just have to wait for the next wave, but 40 seconds could be a painful wait time if you were unlucky.

Regardless, the laz grenade slightly ruins my dreams of mowing down a large group of people with a minigun.

Ahhh yes forgot about that little detail lol. Well yea could have them miss that spawn in this would keep people paying attention to whats going on around them even when they are down.

Lol why you can still mow them down like in the video just throw a moltov on them after to finish them off or have your teammates behind you finish them off while you do work :gun: :bolt:

lets call it the jesus grenade lmao, raising groups from the grave

Lazarus was the man that Jesus did supposedly raise from his grave.

Anyway, I think that being revived by this grenade shouldn't be voluntary, that you should be forced to get up (maybe a bit slowly, but still). That would make it balanced for sure. This will be a really interesting game mechanic! ^_^

Now I wonder: Do those teammates have a choice when to revive themselves or do the just get revived?

Im pretty sure they get the choice considering you get the choice when the medic tosses you a needle

Not really just kill the medic first and its a level 20 ability. Anyone under 20 won't have it.

Im thinking yes.

I don't think so.

Just a quick question if your killed while you threw the Grenade does it revive you O_O because they might need to do a more little balancing on the medic, because then they would have 2 ways to revive themselves when incaped :toughninja:

@Krugmik (and adding to Wraith's comment) - If you keep shooting when they're incapped, and make sure they die for real, the Lazarus isn't going to be bringing too many people back at once.

My guess is yes, they could do a last-ditch toss of the Laz and pop themselves up after their death.

However, I stress again that if this is indeed the case, both Self Rez and the Lazarus Grenade itself are still max-level abilities with heavily-restricted cooldowns. People won't be trying these shenanigans until a couple weeks down the line, and SD will be paying attention.

Its possible I suppose we shall know when the game comes out. I plan to leave no incaps in my wake.

Not to mention, you can only buy rank 5 abilities when you're level 20. Which only gives you ONE ability.

You can bring yourself back, or several people at once, but not both.

Unless you lob it into the air under a hail of gunfire and get incapped with your team the the laz grenade lands and revives all of you.

A hail mary play if you will :spotted owl:

Unless you have a teammate who's working for the opposition and has grenade shooting - explode it when it's too high up to save anyone!

EDIT: What? It could happen...

I think you can only shoot your grenades and they have to be frag.
