Finally... I was worried about poor marketing but I'm sure there will be more as the release date approaches. I'm still waiting for some cool tv spots. Maybe even one during the Super Bowl if they are feeling randy.

Uh...doubt it. A superbowl ad is about 3 million for 30 seconds. That's probably the entire advertising budget, or pretty close to it.

Besides only Americans watch the Superbowl now if the Olympics were on...

it was also on the opening banner ad on Gamespot's website the other day.

I'm sure that it will slowly ramp up over these last few weeks (ok months) prior to release. But there are those other shooters that are getting ready to launch, so I figure a slow simmer of internet ads until after April 14th then Brink will start popping up on TV spots..

Yeah but most people won't try a game they haven't heard of when a huge title (Gears of War, COD, Halo, ETC) came out just a month before. Dead Space 2 is going to shoot Brink! before it hits the shelves......

You do realize different networks broadcast the Olympics right?

I hope Splash Damage come up with some good TV spots then. The only video-game spot I liked so far was the one for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-coqMr7UFdU.

Agreed, but most of the same gamers have such a bad case of ADHD they wouldn't be able to think past a game not having a kill streak bonus to remind them that they are playing.

I think that Dead Space would be on the pre-owned shelfs by May..

The last big hyped shooter (for PS3 at least) prior to Brink is SOCOM 4. But I think a lot of gamers are jaded towards Zipper after MAG and how they got treated there..

I hope Splash Damage come up with some good TV spots then. The only video-game spot I liked so far was the one for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-coqMr7UFdU.

Bethesda did a good job getting New Vegas out there, so I think that both companies will do there part..

I liked that one teaser trailers with the super close up of the eye and blood drop.

I'm sure they've set aside more than a thousand dollars for the advertising budget of the game, guy. Maybe you're misunderstanding something.

That was a good trailer, but the problem with ads like that is it's how most TV ads work, they should do somthig like 20 ways to kill CoD to make it seem unique.

I liked that one as well; after all it got me hooked on BRINK.

But it's not very fitting for a commercial, because it's absolutely vacuous. My first thought was that this could be some kind of Tigerman and BRINK would become some sort of fantasy-game.

That one is ok.
Personally I think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voOX7vCjOCo is one of the best game trailers ever. I think if you throw Mad World (Gary Jules version, the original just isnt... as good) behind almost any game trailer it makes it awesome.

Funny, I knew it was that trailer only by reading your post.

Anyway, I disagree. This trailer did work because it was Gears of War. It would also work with Mass Effect 3, I believe. But it wouldn't have to work with BRINK, or Assassin's Creed, or Battlefield.
Using sad or epic music is not an sacred recipe for a good trailer. That is why I like to show the Assassin's Creed trailer (as a matter of fact, not only the one of the first game; but the short versions for AC2 and Brotherhood are rare on youtube).

The AC trailer explicitly doesn't use epic (sad/drama) music, but utilises a very heavy speech of images. You could use "Teardrop" in a much more happy scenario as well, and it would fit.
Also the AC trailer does show you exactly what the game will offer: You are an assassin, you kill people, you climb buildings and you move around in pretty big areas.

Also, what I personally like in this trailer (for the first Assassin's Creed game) very much, is the good composition of ingame-sound and music. They have a harsh cut at 0:15/0:16, but re-introduce the music with the blade-sound at 0:22/0:23 is very well aranged.

I think that they should do something related to choir of guns. start out with an opening scene of a mission and show some gameplay (not just people shooting there guns). I think that just seeing the unique look of the game and use of smart would draw people in.
