Brink Delayed?

Post » Wed Jun 02, 2010 9:16 am

I found this article searching the web. Apparently Splash is looking for more programmers and artists for Brink...which may mean they are going to take longer developing.

http://www.sempercog.com/?p=1191

Enjoy. Or not. Probably not.

Well as the article says it's possible Splash Damage just needs some extra hands to finish this up, not that they're expecting a prolonged delay. It's also possible that Splash Damage is planning future content for Brink and that's why they've listed these positions. Or a bit of both

I like to think the worst. That way, I'll feel better when Splash says, "It won't be that bad."

The worst doesn't have to be bad. I'd rather wait just a lil longer for a great game than to have a buggy game that had a lot of potential.

As there is no actual release date yet, BRINK can not be delayed. :P Also they still have 3-4 months until the expected time for release.

Again I'll say what the other guy said. No release date means no delay :)

Yeah if you want to get technical about it. In a realistic sense though if they decide to push the release date back further then it's a delay.

On amazone.ca they said the game will come out on march 31 in Canada so I will soon see if it's really delayed or not.

Its been said many times before, SD and Beth have only said "spring 2011", any other date it just a placeholder made by other companies.

It's splitting hairs to say that this does not constitute a possible delay on the grounds that there is no specific release date. Any release day not falling within the "Spring" is a delay and the gaming mags and other media will dub it as such with little hesitation.

usually spring runs until mid June as the seasons go but end of may for most people so 31st may or before "should" constitute a spring release.
Sooner it finished and playable rather than rushed and broken. Blops looking at YOU!!

*shrug* i've heard people complain because it's been "delayed" from february to april... and they don't believe me when i say it was never listed for release in feb, so who cares if it's delayed or not anymore, they all believe it's delayed far too soon anyway.

and i find it much more plausible that they're finding more people for patches/dlc or perhaps Brink 2.
although it could also be that other companies have contacted them to make another game or somesuch, and SD noticed(due to the 2 delays) that they need more people.

Hey BlOps isn't THAT bad, huge improvement over MW2 IMO.

Anyways, I don't mind if it's delayed from like March to April (first months off the top of my head) but if it's delayed from like March to August, then i'd be pissed.

It's just a fixed MW2.
I'm sorry, but Cod lost its awesomeness a long time ago. Every game is a "fixed" version of the previous one. Only thing I liked was the action packed SP.

I'm pretty sure those jobs have been open for some time, they may just not have got filled the first time round and now SD has put them on the site again.

Lately though, compared to the other Crap of Duties BlOps seems pretty good.

Maybe they're looking for more programmers and artists to get it done even faster, because all they're doing now is just polishing and fixing bugs. Maybe they want it for early Spring.

I doubt it, since they are already this far into beta, it seems odd to me that they would need artists to work on the game. Isn't most of the graphics and art done during alpha? Perhaps they are looking for people to work on advertisemant.

My guess is that they are almost finished with Brink and that they were thinking: Okay, we made a great game, we had a great team, but we're still a bit short on "Fill in random jobs"

I don't know if "Spring 2011" was announced in an official press release but it does seem to be the official release date at the moment - if the game is released after June 20th I think it's fair to say that it's been delayed. However while this might frustrate a lot of people I bet most will accept a delay if they feel the game needs it.

I like to think the worst.

When it comes to games in developement that's generally the wisest course of action. :)

Good point, from my understanding when you enter beta all of the final art should be in place. Some things may need to be tweaked but it would be odd to put a whole bunch of new art in.

Maybe they need more artists to finish level art and back grounds design.

I want the game out but I'm very happy to wait.. Rather wait then to pay for a beta.

I have this feeling that they are going to simply take the time still there and make the customization system much more advanced, and perhaps even add in one more area possibly.
