So, this may seem like a stupid question, but is the parkour in the game basically just jumping and vaulting over stuff, or doing crazy stuff like in Mirror's Edge? You kind of talk about it, but I haven't seen anything other than jumping, sliding, and vaulting so far.
Thanks.

Yup that's BRINKs parkour in a nutshell. The reason why BRINK doesn't have as many moves as Mirrors Edge is because Mirrors Edge isn't an FPS so they have space for the moves to be spread across the buttons. Since BRINK is an FPS they need buttons for shooting, swapping weapons, giving buffs, etc.

With exactly three weeks to go before it hits stores, we're opening up the mailbag again to take your questions about any and everything regarding Brink.

Wondering about the most minute gameplay detail -- or curious about post-release support? Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood is standing by to answer your questions. Leave a comment here -- we'll collect them all and get as many answered as we can.

Is the storyline a really good length? and is the re-play high on it?

I don't have the internet and i'd like to be able to customize and play the storyline for hours and hours.(=
Thanx,

Hello there everyone at Bethesda! First of all I'd like to thank you for all the amazing games you've made over the years. They have without any doubt been some of the most immersive and awe inspiring games I've ever played.
Not to mention you have inspired me to write different styles of music as well, which I really appreciate. But enough of that and on with my questions. (And sorry if any have been asked, I don't have the time to search for everything.)

1 - Will brink allow manual control of FOV? I think for some PC users these days not having this is really annoying and in rare occasions game breaking. As Brink seems to be impressively smooth playing with fluid "parkour style" Movement I think it's safe to assume that some users will experience motion sickness (It's inevitable most of the time, I realize). A lot of the time the effects of this can be helped a bit by finding a more comfortable FOV that the user can find for themselves. Also these days theres so many different resolutions that it only makes sense to allow for it on PC. And of course I need to mention surround/eyefinity setups.. Which I have and 90% of new games are not supporting it properly.. Even with the aspect ratio set rarely does it look properly.. Bad Company 2 allows this adjustment and it truly is beautiful, easy on the eyes.. Love it.

2 - Will you guys release new content as in maps, clothing, weapons using the "DLC" ideology or will you be releasing updates free of charge? I'm really not going to harp at you guys if you are going down the DLC path because I do understand very well how the market has changed and how you also need to provide this content to the PS3/360 networks and how that requires you to blah blah blah and so forth something something.. But yes, it just needs to be asked.

2.5 - And will you have a "micro-transactions" store where players can buy items, comparable to what you can find in Team Fortress 2 or Portal 2?

3 - Will BRINK support mods? And if so, how long will we wait for it? A new trend I've been noticing with a lot of companies these days is the promise of things that they decide to ignore they have everyone's money or till' it doesn't even matter anymore.. I find that so terribly depressing. I don't think a game requires those options always but it's the best way to build a dedicated following and long time playability. I know there has been quite of bit of mods for your other games so I have my fingers crossed BRINK won't be an exception

4 - Will BRINK support DX11? Honestly it doesn't really matter to me after seeing what the boys at crytek did with DX9.. But my curiosity is unrelenting!

OKAY, sorry if that was too much at once.
Congratulations on all the positive feedback, keep up the good work and be well.

Will the PS3 version have Steam too? (like in portal 2 and stuff)
I suspect it won't, but it has more to do with Brink not being a Valve game than anything else.

1 - Will brink allow manual control of FOV?
2 - Will you guys release new content... using the "DLC" ideology or will you be releasing updates free of charge?
2.5 - And will you have a "micro-transactions" store where players can buy items...?
4 - Will BRINK support DX11?
All very good questions. If Splash Damage and Bethesda took on board some of Valve's greatest successes I would be the happiest gamer ever imagined. Also, Shortwave, you're a TF2 player aren't you. I can tell by the questions. Respect! ^_^

Edit: I entirely forgot to ask my question: I've pre-ordered Brink on Steam. Will I be able to pre-load it?

Now THAT is a different question altogether.

And a good one.

I'd probably like being a lefty just because people don't expect it. I'm ambidextrous irl, which makes me more dangerous than most when dual-wielding swords.

yeah im cross dominant so everything that needs 2 hands i do it lefty, including gun shooting. and i play CSS (counter strike source) and u can set it so you play left handed and it just feels better.

Well even though I highly doubt it, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Will there be any kind of Clan support, like clan tags or something more, or would some of us have to just color cordinate?

- Will there be top view map layouts of each (online) level available to download? This would be pretty useful to plan out tactics

The next one I'm most concerned about.
- (How well) Will Splash Damage be watching on line gaming to check if everything is going as it should?
Such as players doing what they're supposed to do or talking trash or just making the game less fun to play.
And if so; how would you manage it, what sort of punishments would there be for example?

Left-handed viewmodels would be excellent, especially as a lot of customisation is surely on that side too... ^_^

I'd like something like this in-game, myself. Would be great fun.

Might be difficult with the amount of vertical movement SMART will allow though.

Got a question about hipfiring.

Is there a way to play effectively while hipfiring ? Did it get some "love" during developpement like a special perk to shoot more accuralety while shooting from the hip ?

There was a video where they mentioned exactly that.

And said more than half the staff at SD never use ironsights.

Maybe this has been answered, but is there going to be split-screen? That would be awesome.
Also, what appearance options can you change on your character after you've already made him? Can you just equip new clothes, masks, and face paints? Or can you change stuff like hair color and style, facial options, and tattoos? Thats what I want to know, can you change your tattoo?

Thanks.

Yes an Operative can hack into both friendly and enemy turrets

No split-screen. Also as far as I know you CAN'T change stuff like facial options, accents and tattoos after creation. You can however change body types for your character. I don't think this should be the case but I don't mind ^_^

Why is Brink rated T? It should be M because i saw a few trailers and there's alot of blood! Well I guess that it's okay because I can get it on my own without a parent.

BRINK was rated Teen because Splash Damage didn't want to break with their tradition of Teen-rated games. To do so, SD toned down on swearing and blood, something that was only done later in production. You may have been watching the Container City Previews, which were made in the alpha stages of BRINK.
