Brink Flaws?

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 4:32 pm

Would be a shame if SD had to shut down, they seem to be on thin ice at the moment and if brink doesn't prevail then my fav company is doomed.

Yes, and mind you that is just in America. It also does not seem like Steam Preorders are counted, and I'm sure there will be a fairly hefty amount, seeing as 'PC' and 'Splash Damage' happen to be very close friends.

Splash Damage isn't exactly mainstream. They just don't have the kind of money to dish out massive amounts of propaganda-like advertisemants like EA and Activision can.

Bethesda do, though. The difference is, Activision will advertise the BALLS out of their property because all they care about is money, and EA aim all their adverts at 11 year olds these days. Bethesda take their IP's and their customers much more seriously than Activision or EA. Bethesda come across as more human than corporate.

Its good that you pointed that out. Its very possible that the number of people per-ordering for PC could be like... 60,000 - 75,000+.
Which in my opinion, is well over the amount I had once thought it would sell.

[ 164,720
[ +48,610
[ _______

[ 213,330 + PC Users

Sounds like a lot of sales to me.

Edit: Grabbing calculator for a second.

Edit2: So, that is $12,799,800 minus whatever else comes out of it, not taking into account the PC crowd.

Not all of which goes to SD, but it should make them nice and healthy for a long time :)
Not that the money is important, just saying.

What? If you mean multiplayer games on console there's a thread which solidly consigned that rumour to the tomb. It is not invite only.

From what ive seen of most videos, It looks fine to me. Most new games take a few losses to get used to them anyway.
Exspecially shooters because your almost always used to another style of shooter.

But who knows in the end. SD could be making their videos from pervious builds of the game.

I think it will come down to the ... 'wait and see'

This. Plus the way the OP had it stated from the article "It was PS3 only"..... seems like they werent happy with that choice could of been they werent use to pS3 controls and we all know what happens when ya play a game with a controller your not comfortable with...you tend to not do so well

It's true that there hasn't been much advertising .I'm not sure why Bethesda hasn't advertised brink on the telly or in cinemas

Gears doesn't really deserve the top place for pre-orders, they boosted them with the beta.

Now.
Brink looks like an amazing game but some magazines are being negative about it.Let me show you (Cut from a mag):
"Worryingly, however, for all its good ideas,Brink isn't firing on all cylinders. This month's hands-on session was PS3 code only, and if it's an indicator on how the game is going to run on xbox360, it's neither as smooth nor good looking as the videos suggest.
What's more Brink BOMBARDS you with info from the start, making the first few games a lesson in losing rather then fun"

Another paragraph says that "If Brink doesn't sell well things could get very tricky for SD"
To be honest I'm a bit worried for Brink,What happens if it isn't as good as we thought it would be?And if it doesn't sell well, will SD have to shut down?(Hope not!)
Any ideas,opinions?

----------------------------
I'm not hating on the game,I love it no matter what.I just hope SD doesn't get shut down because of it.

Do you happen to have a link to this review? Because I have found that taking a few lines from an article can completely change what an article is saying. It's really nice to read things in context to get the whole picture.

OK, thanks. That isn't a bad score by any means. What did they have to say that was positive?

I guess I won't know what I think until after I play the game, and I will be playing this game to see for myself. ;)

I will tell you the flaws once I play the game and not before. :spotted owl:

This is what I'm thinking, some games have fairly poor reviews, but I love the game nonetheless (lost planet2) while others have great reviews but I hate them with all my life (COD: black ops).
When brink comes out, I will be the true judge as to whether or not I enjoy it, and no one else can tell me if it's fun or not.
