if people cheat out of boredom, from a game that's not yet released, makes me wonder how much ADD one can have.

luckily most poeple aren't losers and I'm sure very few rounds will be destroyed by cheaters.

"I can use my 1337 haxing skillz to kill everyone!"

Yes, but you broke SMART by using that low-gravity hack, so you can't actually GET anywhere properly, so everyone will be at the next objective by the time you reach the current one.

I wasn't implying this is a dangerous hack, or anything. However, it's mere existence can't be a good sign.

That's unclear, I was actually hoping someone else would know.

This could be nothing, or it could be a serious security breach. I am of course hoping for the former.

Like I said, the only body we see leaving the ground floats too - I'm calling it a server setting mod, affecting everyone, but only the guy posting the video is actually bothering to jump.

Are you sure hes even on PC? he has all kinds of Xbox and 360 references in his account. He also uses the term "mod" instead of "hack" which tends to be a console user thing. Based on the fact that it is affecting other players, I think its a host mod.

I think the real issue with modding in Borderlands was the fact that you could trade. The whole trading market kinda falls apart when people can make any item they want to trade with.

With brink, I wont be surprised to see players that unlock everything with mods, but it doesn't really affect the rest of the player base. If you're in a game with a modded host, just leave.

Players with modded items don't really matter much either. All of the weapons and attachments can be unlocked in 8 challenges, half of which are basically a tutorial. All of the clothing can be unlocked by reaching level 20, which can be done in a day if you're working at it. So they aren't cheating to get anything that has prestige.

The only real possible losses that I see from mods are leaderboards, since I don't know how that's set-up. Might have people sending in level 3 challenge times of one second or something.

Pkaying online with a buddy before the game has been realeased, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Probably has a jtaged 360 and got a early copy of the game to screw around in single player/lan. Either way, don't care. I have dedi servers so I'm not worried. If I want to screw around there will be modded servers for that which clearly announce what they are.

Huh... If that's the video i saw earlier, it's a guy running a private server with a buddy and set low gravity options so he jumps higher.

Keep going though, this is entertaining....

Some games have "mods" that are built-in.

Also, he could have used a PC to hack files on his console. XBox and PC architecture are pretty much interchangeable, it shouldn't be too much trouble to alter a few files. Working out WHICH files to alter, and how, on the other hand... Probably why it's such a small-scale mod.

My point in stressing PC vs Xbox was that PCs have servers where Xbox is P2P. So if it was Xbox, like I suspect, having a server mod wouldn't be possible, it would have to be a host mod.

Also, because of the way the way he worded the start of his video. explaining all the active mods; and the fact that he trolled people in his comments; its clearly something he did, not something that was already in the game.

Imma be honest, I played a game of CoD4 a couple months ago... and found my first hacked lobby. Superhuman speed, bigger jumps and unlimited mag capacity, and I gotta admit, it was quite fun for the 2 matches it lasted. It was just something silly and petty and it wasn't a big deal, tbh, kinda like the guy in this video. I'm not worried about coming across hacked games like this. If it's annoyingly severe I'll leave. As long as the hacks don't escalate into something WAY sinister.

Though to be fair, no hacks at all is better than some hacks.

do we no if these options can be chosen in private matches or not? like halo reach private matches

It makes no sense so it's really unlikely, it's not the halo universe now
