Brink Hacks Already?

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:35 am

*Pre-release game play removed*

What do you make of this? It looks like he's playing with a friend, which means that was multiplayer. Will more hack protection be up after the game is actually released? Is it unusual to see mods before the game is even released? Basically, what's going on with that?

Thoughts?

I know, right? It's ridiculous. I really hope it won't affect the actual game after it officially launches.

Hopefully they are going to patch that on Tuesday when the game is officially released since unless the patch is when you first put in the game... If it does work on the first day maybe SD/bethesda will patch it some time later. It is sorta annoying how people are going to mess with a good game by modding.

It could be a co-op private match.

I'm not a console person, but isn't online simply online? It seems like it would all be the same thing, although I could very well be wrong.

Please. PC servers always run mods on them, and players tweak there .cfg files all the time as well.

Also, if someone wants to post this over at the Splash Damage forums that would probably be a good idea. I don't have an account there, and I don't feel like making one right now. ;)

If a PC dedicated server is modded, then that makes it easy to remember and avoid in the future.

Yes but we choose our servers. Look at Counter Strike. People edit their .cfg but is it a big problem no? Hacks isn't much of a problem either specially if you are the one running the server.

Good servers aren't modded, and you have dedicated admins to ban anyone hacking. Much better solution.

Various modding and hacking in a multiplayer game of Brink, before the game is even officially released. :(

To quote the video: Moon Gravity, Jump Height, Fast Sprint, Far Melee, Cheat Check Removed.

The most noticeable thing is the moon physics; he's jumping like fifteen to twenty feet. :/

True, dedicated servers are only as good as their admins/setup. Luckily, part of the whole server experience is that we can choose where to play. So, no, not every dedicated server is a miracle of awesomeness but, on the whole, they're still a very good thing. Don't talk crap about them. ;)

Besides, the mods and tweaks on (serious) dedicated servers are generally beneficial. Avoid the bad ones, enjoy the good servers. Easy.

EDIT: Triple-ninja'd, although mine has enough details so as not to be obsolete. Still, triple...that hurt. :P

PC's dedicated servers

Exactly so calm down.VAC works after awhile also.

There always gonna be these guys who don't want to enjoy playing or making friends...
It's a matter of time the community to cast them out, whoever uses cheats/hacks only loses in every spect of gaming and more,no need for flaming here too guys.
